It’s been a long time since I made a dress and I have never made a dress out of a pillowcase. I have a precious grand-daughter that is so tiny, she wears a size 0 or 1 which is really hard to find. She loves vintage looking fabrics so when she found this pillowcase with the pretty floral design down the side, she bought it and then asked me if I would make her a dress. Of course I said yes even though I had no idea how I was going to do it.
It has such pretty spring colors in the flowers.
She loves this seafoam green color in the flowers and asked me to accent it with that color.
Well drumb roll – — – Here it is. I made a strapless dress that is so cute. I found some seafoam fabric and some lace and put a band at the top of the pillowcase, then encased elastic in the band so it would fit around her bodice neatly.
I also used some of the fabric to make a sash so she could tie it loosely around the waste. Cute both ways as a shift and tied.
So if you need a really cute dress and you can fit inside a pillowcase, this really does look cute. You could also just buy fabric and make the same thing. Great for summer.
So, how is your summer wardrobe coming along. Are you looking for something new?
Don’t forget that Table Top Tuesday will be up this evening. Can’t wait to see all your great vignettes.
