Guest Bedroom Drapes Are Done

I finished the drapes for the guest bedroom and got them hung and they really do look so nice in the room.

I used the leftover fabric I had from making the drapes in the familyroom, so they didn’t cost me anything.  I bought the rod at Ross and it was only $17.00,  As always I lined the drapes with a sheet.  A twin sheet works fabulously, you just have to cut part of the width off, but you already have a bottom hem by placing the top of the sheet at the hemline of the drape.  I buy the inexpensive ones at Walmart for $5 each.  So all in all the drapes cost me $27.  Not bad at all for beautiful designer fabric, lined, custom drapes and a great rod.

The drapes are a soft beige and cream stripe that is the exact same shade of beige as the walls, so it gives the background a seamless flow since this is such a small room.

As I said in my last post, I have been working on a really bad stain on the carpet..  (bottom center of photo)  I think about 90 percent of it came out and so for now I am just going to leave it alone, then in about a month I will rent the shampooer again and give it another cleaning.  This time I am definitely going to use ammonia.  I have trusted that for years, and should have gone that route this time.  Anyway for now, I am living with it.

I am using furniture that I have, and even though it is not your typical bedroom furniture, I am making it work. The one end table you see here is actually a kitchen work table.  The leaves fold up on both sides, and it has a pull out cutting board, 1 drawer for silverware and 2 tin curved flour bins.  I had this as an island in my house in Oregon.  Love this piece, but no place for it in this house.  The other side of the bed I will show you later, it is another non-bedroom piece.

My dog lamp looks perfect here so I borrowed it from the familyroom.  I added some greenery, an antique crank phone, and an antique alphabet plate.  The clock is a recent GW find for $1.99.  Love the beautiful cut crystal.

I am sewing like mad to make the dust ruffle,  the pillow shams and some decorative pillows.  Hopefully I can finish that up this week.
