Plaid Pumpkins

I’ve seen all kinds of pumpkins and I just had to try and make some.  I found a fabulous velvet one that I bought at HL, but I wanted to try another clothe one. So I dug out those sameple fabrics that I ordered to see if they would work on my chair. This is what I wound up with.

These are the two samples that I really liked, so they are they ones I thought I would use.

A circle and some stuffing, then I ran a basting stitch all the way around the edge.

Then pull the threads together and create a ball.  Adjust and tuck all the edges in.  Since this was upholstery fabric, it was a little difficult to work with.

Next I glued a couple of leaves off of a greenery bundle and a twig that I found in the yard as the stem.

All done.  The same procedure was done for the smaller buffalo check one.

Kind of fun and really quite easy to make.  I do think a smaller check would have worked out better and also a thinner fabric.  Upholstery weight is really thick and so I didn’t get the soft folds I wanted.

So have you tried to make any of the pumpkins you see all over blogland.
