Bookshelves & Books-Tips & Ideas

I love to see books used in all kinds of places.  Obviously we all love them on shelves and bookcases, but I love them too as great tools to elevate any kind of item to display it better, just laying around on tables ready to be read, or any number of places.

Antique leather books are the most prized treasures, but finding books with great colored covers is always fun too and can be a real decorating bargain.  You can find these at Goodwill or Thrift stores for pennies, and they can make a big impact in your decor.

I wanted some red on the shelves in this bookcase, so having a couple of red bound books and a few with some red in their bindingss, helps to incorporate the color.

Laying a couple of books on their sides is a great way to elevate an item and make it appear more important.

See how grand the cow figurine looks standing on a couple of books. and the red really adds to the look of the whole bookcase.

My little farmer’s vest is orange, so by adding some orange toned books to the shelf, it makes him stand out more.

Sometimes just one book is all that’s neaded to add that one something special to a vignette.

Using two black ones on a small table really helps to bring this lamp up to the proper height.

These books just seem to add to the travel and far away places look of this vignette.

Books can work in just about any vignette you can create.

Perfect to add a little interest and color to a tray vignette.

So, the next time you need a spot of color somewhere, think about books.  The covers and colors are endless and they can be just what you are looking for.

Sorry I havn’t made the rounds to everyone yet, I have a beastly cold and it just won’t go away.  I will visit as soon as I can get my nose to stop running and quit coughing.  Yuk!!!!
