Super Bowl Party-Won Tons

Since all of my family is coming over for a Super Bowl Party, I thought I needed to beef up the snack menu.  One of the things they love and I only make about once a year is Won-Tons.

You’ll need some won-ton skins, chopped green chili’s, and either mozzarella or jack cheese shredded. (I made 200 so I used 4 packages of skins, 3 cans of chili’s and one large bag of mozzarella and 1/2 bag of jack cheeses.)

In a large pan crumble and brown 3 lbs of ground round seasoned with garlic salt and pepper.

When brown add the cans of chopped green chili’s and all the shredded cheese and stir to melt and mix with the meat thoroughly.  Now you can wait a little bit and allow it to set up and gel just a little.

Open your won ton skins, there are 50 to a package.

Beat one egg in  a bowl and set aside.

Place a small spoon full of meat mixture on a won ton skin

 roll up from one corner

dip thumb and first finger in eggwash and take the two long ends and twist and seal together with the eggwash on your fingers.

continue until you fill up a cookie sheet.

 place cookie sheet in freezer.

when the won tons are frozen, remove from the cookie sheet and place in a single layer in a plastic freezer bag.  You can put approximately 25 to a bag.

Continue the same process until all the meat mixture is gone.  This batch made about 200, but you can cut it back or make more, however many you think you will need.

To serve, deep fry in a large sauce pan,  place a few of the won tons in at a time and fry until they are brown and the shells are crispy. (Put them in frozen, they thaw very fast). They take just a couple of minutes, so don’t over cook.  Place on a paper towel to drain and serve warm with some salsa for dipping.

My family loves these and will definitely eat all 200.  I hope you give them a try.  A little time consuming with all the wrapping, but oh soooooooooo good.

We need plenty of finger food so we can eat in front of the TV, so our menu includes:

Won Tons
Orange Chicken Poppers
Mini Chimis
Mini Tacos
Sliders
BBQ Wings
Taquitos
Veggie Tray and Dips
Chips and Nuts
Wine and Assorted Sodas
