Boxwood Topiary Tutorial

I am still on a kick trying to create some fun and trendy greenery for my vignettes.  Topiaries are all the rage right now in all sizes and shapes, but the prices are a little much for my budget, especially since I want several things.  So as I showed you in this post, I made a trip to the Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby for greenery and pots.  I spent a total of $20 and change.

I’ve already made these 6 pots.  Remember, you can take those bushes apart and make several different arrangements.  All the plants were 50% off

Then I made these 5 more, plus the lemon topiary that I made several weeks ago.  You can see these posts here and here

Ok, back to the topiary.  This is what I am going to use to create a faux boxwood look. The small styrofoam ball and the leaves off of this bush.

Use some spray glue and cover the ball with some moss, then start taking the leaves off of the stems of the plant, and start hot glueing them on the ball.

When you get the entire ball covered, find a few twigs from the yard, stick then into the bottom of the ball, and place it in a pot with some floral foam and moss, tie a rafia ribbon and done.

See that half of a bush plant at the top of the picture, it is going to be a fabulous potted plant.

Just use your wire cutters and cut the stems off.

Find a small vase, this is a votive candle holder, fill with foam and moss and stick the stems in.  Done.  Don’t you just love it.

This one was a no brainer too.  The orb was 1/2 price too, just some ribbon around a pot and another small arrangement.

Ok, now I have a lot of different greenery pots that I can incorporate into my vignettes.  Fun to make and super cheap.

These first 6 and

now these three.

All for my $20 and change.  I am loving it, plus I still have more greenery left.
