How To Create A New Color Scheme

Ok, you guys all know that I change my color scheme in the living room about every 15 minutes (exaggeration), but I do change it a lot.  I love having a neutral base and a few pillows and accessories can do wonders to change things up for a totally different look.

This is what my living room has looked like for a while now.  I think a change would be nice.

I found several fabrics at the discount fabric store that I think might work.  You only need 1/2 yd for two pillow fronts, so you can buy several different fabrics and then play with them to see how they would work.  Most of these were $7.95 yd, so $4 for 1/2 yd.  That’s thrifty enough to play.

First, I layed a white tablecloth over my current table, I need a neutral backdrop.

I just drape pieces of fabric over pillow forms so I can get an idea of how the colors and patterns go together.   The picture doesn’t do this combination justice.  I actually like the check with the floral.  Maybe I can find a green check.

This combination is ok, but the green pillow and the circle fabric aren’t the same green and actually they clash a little.  It’s ok with the floral, but not the green solid pillow

These are actually really pretty together in real life, but not as summery as I would like.

Now this combination is really bright and cheery.  With the right accessories, this could be fun and definitely look like summer.  (Can you tell I am hot and just want something bright, cheery and fresh looking.)

I bought several fabrics for a new fall look too, we’ll have to play with those another day.  I did finally create three different looks that work, I’ll show you all of them when I’m done.  Stay tuned.
