I absolutely love doing this series because I get to Brag and Show Off some of the most talented people in all of blogland. Today I am just jumping for joy because I have Mary Ann from Classic Casual Home sharing some of her before’s and amazingly beautiful after’s of her gorgeous home. Get ready to pin every single photo and be totally inspired. I love her style and on top of that, she is one of the nicest people in the world, so enjoy.
Hello, my name is Mary Ann Pickett.
Isn’t visiting A Stroll Thru Life
a comfortable respite in a busy world?
I’m honored Marty asked me to
be a part of “Show Off & Inspire.”
These are old bottles from the flea market.
Three years ago, I asked my
creative sister what to call my blog.
She said “Well, your style is
classic, yet casual.”
Then, I called my nephew, who designs websites, and asked him for help. He said “Women of your age demographic aren’t known to be technologically savvy.”
That fired me up and two days later
had it’s first blog post.
(My daughter suggested the bullet points
in between the words).
This is our ever changing
1950’s Newport Beach,
California cottage.
Here is the living room before.
“After”
I am always switching this room around.
Actually, I do that in every room
(remind you of someone, Marty?).
Here is the dining room before.

I recently shrunk these slipcovers in the washing machine…opps!
Here are the new ones made with
$10/yd. discounted
PRE-WASHED fabric.
I’m writing this from the center chair in the sitting area right now while my husband cooks
“a little pasta.” I blame him for my weight problem.
Our pantry keeps small appliances handy
but out of sight.
This area is a beverage center
with an instant hot and cold tap.
Our son’s bathroom was decorated with
flea market finds.
Here’s our guest/daughter’s room…
this was made over in six weeks for
I stenciled the paisley myself.
Her bathroom…
At the top of the stairs,
we carved out a loft office space.
Upstairs is also the master bedroom and bath.
Back downstairs to the laundry room…
The cabinet above the baskets is a laundry chute from the master closet.
These two are my favorite
“almost complete projects.”
Tommy is a junior
at the University of Florida and
Alie is a successful
advertising executive in Los Angeles.
And here is another work in progress…
our five month old puppy named Chief.
He’s the reason I have had to move out area rugs
and put up a big metal pen in my kitchen.
But I love him.
Thank you, Marty, for inviting me
over to “Show Off”, and hopefully “Inspire!”
Please come see what’s new at
I’d love to have you over!
