I am definitely an outdoor girl, so when Laurie chose her back yard as her favorite “room”, I totally understood. I love being outside and she has the perfect place for her family and friends to gather and enjoy her gorgeous surroundings. I think you are goind to love her outdoor area.
Hi everyone! My name is Laurie from Laurie Jones Home! I have to thank Marty for asking me to be a part of her Show Off & Inspire series. No joke she’s one of the nicest bloggers out there but I think you all know that!
Today I wanted to share my favorite part of our home, actually it’s the outside of our home and it’s my family’s favorite place to hang out which is why it’s my favorite!
When we moved into our house almost 4 years ago our back yard was a blank space. It’s a newer home so basically the backyard was gravel and spots of gras
I never really enjoyed working out in the yard until I met my husband and now I have to admit I am sorta liking it because my husband and I do it together. My husband has a job where he talks all day so landscaping and working in the yard is how he relaxes. (and yes I consider myself lucky!)
We’ve created multiple spaces for our backyard our first is the small deck that we enjoy eating breakfast, having coffee in the morning and winding down with a glass of wine at night.
My angel food cake planter is one of my most popular images on Pinterest! (Who would’ve guessed!)
I spent so many hours last summer rocking my baby boy in this rocking chair!
The next area is our dining area. In the evening as soon as the weather gets nice we love eating dinner here as much as possible and I love having casual dinners with friends and family outside.
My favorite area outside is the “living room” area where I like to hang out in front of the fireplace and read at night after the kids are put to bed.
(Can you spot my daughter hanging out in our fancy pool! Just keeping it real!)
In the distance is my daughter’s favorite spot where she and her friends hang out around the fire pit after football games and late summer nights.
My husband’s favorite spot is our bocce ball court he put in last summer! He likes to refer to it as competitive relaxing!
He even designed and built the scoreboard too! We’ve had some great bocce ball parties last summer and can’t wait to start up again!
The backyard is definitely an ongoing process and this year our plans include another water feature besides our bubbling rock and alot of landscaping since we’ve spent the last few years on the hardscaping.
I hope you all enjoyed my outdoor living area and I hope you’ll stop by my blog and check out my furniture page and my home tour and of course please say hello!!!
Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you Marty!! I loved stopping by!!! xo L
