Show Off & Inspire-Little Cottage On The Pond

Oh, I am really so excited to have Tricia here today from Little Cottage on the Pond.  I love her home and her style and I could just move in and be totally at home.  I think you are in for such a treat if you don’t know her.  Everything is so beautiful and her style is impeccable.  So sit back and enjoy, I know you are going to be amazed.

Hi!  I’m Tricia, from the blog Little Cottage on the Pond.  I am so excited to be featured here at A Stroll Thru Life.  Come on in and have a look around…

Our home is a new build, but hubby and I have done our best to inject some vintage charm and put our own style stamp on it.  If asked to describe my decorating style I really cannot narrow it down to one.  It’s more of a mixture-ish blend of modern country,  industrial, vintage, Pottery Barn meets cottage chic.   Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.  I am a huge believer in just surrounding yourself with the things you love- that mean something to you and your family, and that is what makes a home.

This is our entry…

Right off the entry is also the mini-mudroom entry from our garage.

Our house comes in at just under 1900 square feet, but with six people living in it, one has to get a bit creative with storage and constant editing of “stuff”.  The rule around here is that for every one thing brought in, another thing must go out.

We have one living area and this is where we all sit and watch television or just talk.  Since we are HUGE fans of The Walking Dead, we host a Dead & Dinner on Sundays with about 20 people in attendance.  Nothing brings a family together like zombies 😉

My all time favourite room in the house has to be our kitchen.  Travis and I ripped out the upper cabinets and did a little rebuilding/tweaking so that we could incorporate open shelving and an enclosed refrigerator.  We also revamped our kitchen island to beef it up a bit and add some vintage touches.

Our laundry room is built out in the same style as the kitchen.  I love the large folding table and that I at 5′ tall I can actually reach the shelves!

I adore black, cream and natural woods.  I also seem to have a mild obsession with Emma Bridgewater pottery…

Our master bedroom is truly our retreat.  I am in love with our Ballard Designs knock-off headboard that hubby built for me last year.   Shopping with my kids for the little bird was a hoot.  Pun intended.

Our oldest daughter, Sara, has the colourful room- dubbed the “Florida room”…

Sara and I paint signs for The Happy Soul Project– Painting Outside the Lines.  If you want to read an amazing story about a group of us who decided to change people’s perceptions about people with intellectual disabilities I highly recommend popping over for a read 😉

The last room on our tour is the library.  We worked hard for almost ten months to finish this project.  It was a labor of love…

Thank you so much for stopping in to see our cottage.  We love our surroundings and the DIY projects we do, but we know that it is the love we share, the memories we create, and the life we live that puts the real beauty in our home.
