In 99% of my room makeovers, the furniture stays the same, it’s just the color scheme and accessories that change. Sometime that is like creating a whole new room from scratch. Collecting all the necessary ingredients for a makeover takes some time and thought.
I like to start with the fabric and colors I want to use and then build from there. This sets the tone for the room and the accessories can either dress it up or make it casual. It helps to have a vision for the style you want the room to take on and since my fabrics have a slight contemporary edge, I think I will go for a more “High Style Casual Glam” look with touches of gold and bling.
I love this bright tangerine color for summer.
A little gold bling and nature is what I am looking for. Shell orb from Home Goods.
Capiche shell orb from Pier One
I painted an old pedestal with gold leaf spray paint
some gold glitter candles from Ross and a gold leaf votive candle holder from goodwill
polish up an antique brass candlestick from my stash
and two more brass candlesticks that I had hidden away, plus a fabulous new leopard tray from Ross
a few more candles, gold chargers and some flowers
And a fabulous gold tortise shell.
I think I will add a few plants to the mix too, maybe even a few books. Total cost of everything is under $100. Enough for several room makeovers and fabulous additions to my accessory closet.
So how do you go about changing up a room?
