Add trim to a lampshade or not, that is the question.
If you have been following along lately, then you know that I have been on a mission to update my living room by changing out some of the accessories. Adding a few contemporary patterns and colors along with some trendy accessories has given my very Traditional room a more updated and Transitional look. I am really loving the new look.
I have enjoyed all the sharp black and white with lots of different colored pillows. What I have a question about is the lamps.
Here is another picture where I just use all black and white. Again take a look at the lamps by the sofa and specifically at the lampshades. (I am replacing the brass lamp, I will show you later)
For now I am questioning adding some trim to the lampshades on the side of the sofa. They are very pretty white silk drum shades with a plain white ribbon trim on the top and bottom. This plain ginger jar is on the right side of the sofa.
This ginger jar with flowers and vines is on the left side of the sofa. I found both of these at goodwill and liked them because they just blend into the wall and in a small room, I liked that.
I am recovering my ottoman and bought some greek key trim to put around the bottom of it, and suddenly thought maybe it would look good on the lamshade too. (Sorry these pictures are so dark, it has been raining and we really need it.)
The trim is a really soft beige and white and matches the beige in the wall color and the drapes. Very muted
I just have it pinned up there with butterfly clips for now. So yes or no. Is this too traditional again. That is what I am trying to get away from.
I would love your feedback, let me know what you think?
P.S. I have been hunting for new lamps too, I just can’t find anything that looks right to me.
Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday. Party goes live this afternoon at 3 PM CMT. Can’t wait to see you there.
