I am so excited to be kicking off the 2015 Summer Home Tours. 30 gracious ladies are opening their homes over the next 5 days. You are definitely in for tons of eye candy and inspiration. You can check out the entire line up at the end of the post.
Welcome, I am so happy to see you. If you are new here, I live in the desert in a typical southwestern style home. Since most of the homes are some shade of beige/cream stucco with clay tile roofs, I have been on a kick lately to bring tons of color into my world starting at the front porch.
Our porch is just large enough for two rockers and a few favorite plants. This has become one of my favorite places to swap out pillows. (tip – keep those rain boots handy, perfect to wear while hosing off the porch or working in the yard – #dryfeet)
Come on in, I have been looking for you and I can’t wait to show you around.
I recently did a mini makeover of the living/dining area – white walls with cream and white drapes create the neutral background that I love. Now I can mix in any color I fancy, and I do change often. I am having fun with green at the moment, accenting with bright splashes of color. Hot pink is a current favorite.
I’ve kept the accessories really simple and let the pillows be the star of the show.
A touch of pink ties in with the two pink flowers in the dining area painting.
We spend most of our time in the family room. I’ve been slowly painting and refreshing every room starting in here. I finished up this space in Feb, you can see the before here. White paint, neutral drapes and shades again created a simple background that allows me to swap out accessories on a whim.
This pillow has hot pink and tangerine, so tangerine is the star in here. It is just such a happy color and plays well with citrus green.
A long harvest table works well in the breakfast area and easily seats 8 making it a perfect place for family and friends to gather. (Tip – change out the shades to give a traditional chandy an update)
The wine bar cabinet in the corner is a recent redo and now one of my favorite pieces.
Of course the kitchen is always the heart of any home and it definitely is mine. I love that I can be cooking and still see what all is going on in the family area as well as through the opening into the living area.
The kitchen got a mini makeover when we first moved in – It’s now my favorite place to be. If you’re new here, check it out, it definitely proves that $500 can totally transform a room.
Let’s head down the hall to the Master Bedroom. I have been trying to give this space a little facelife for the last few weeks. No more sea of beige. A new mirror, accessories and a DIY lamp makeover creates a new fresh look on the dresser.
I added some ribbon trim to a pair of Lenda drapes from Ikea. Easy way to add a custom touch to readymades. Custom Euro Shams to match the drapes. I will have a complete tutorial next week and the full bedroom makeover reveal.
One of my most recent projects was our Master Bedroom Closet Makeover for the Spring ORC. A little paint, fabric and tons of purging and this space went from builder basic to glam. A crystal chandelier was the crowning touch. (Our anniversary is Wed, so I put together an outfit to wear out to dinner. Of course I chose bright pink)
This space had to function for more than just our clothes. Some hidden storage and a glamour shelf to display some of my favorite accessories –(you can see, I used every square inch)
plus a fun primping spot covered all my needs. If you are looking for space saving ideas, be sure to check out the reveal.
Thanks for stopping by, I loved having you here. If you would like to see more, I would love to have you follow along to see all of my latest diy’s and adventures.
