We’re having company for an old fashioned BBQ. You know, chicken, corn on the cob and watermelon. Cook on the grill and eat outside. Well we can’t really eat outside, it is way too hot – 117 yesterday. So we moved the backyard tablescape inside.
A bundle of wheat, clay pots filled with tiny plants, a bee skep and my candy scale filled with fruit sitting on an old rag rug runner are fun and old fashioned.
I’m using my straw “picnic” placemats. A pocket to hold silverware and a buttoned sleeve so the napkin doesn’t blow away. How genius is that? Each place setting has one of my checked salad plates with a different fruit.
The kind of table that is casual and fun with memories of yester-year.
