Sometimes you stumble across a blog that just speaks to you. I just recently discovered Citrene Living and her fabulous dining room set with a gorgeous winter tablescape.
At first glance this just says luxury, but there is so much to see in this room and one we can all learn from.
I love the dark walls and white trim. Such a gorgeous back drop for that amazing painting. One large piece of unusual art totally sets the mood for this room.
Gold and silver always catch my attention, and this tablescape is a lesson on how to mix it up.
Gold is the anchor of this tablescape – gold mirror tray, chargers, candlesticks and salt and pepper. Notice the two gold candlesticks do not hold candles, but instead add interest with orbs. There’s also a crystal and silver orb on the table too.
Then look at how silver and crystal mix in. See the silver candlesticks on the side of the settee, so subtle but totally adding to the overall ambiance. Of course the show stopper is again one amazing piece such as the large silver piece in the center of the tray.
The black dishes and napkins tie into the walls and drapes and definitely ground the table.
I also like how she placed the two runners on the table. The one in the center definitely showcases the centerpiece vignette, the other one adds more white to the table but isn’t under the place settings. The table appears lighter without using too much in the way of linens.
You really need to visit her blog if you don’t know her. She describes how she designed this table just using what she had on hand and mixing it up.
That’s a great lesson for all of us, use what we have and mix it up for something totally unique.
