You’ve heard designers say a million times, make sure what you see in the reflection of the mirror is something you want to showcase. You know how a mirror over a fireplace often times only reflects the ceiling or an ugly ceiling fan. I caught a glimpse of a few things that I see reflected in a mirror the other day, so I took a few pictures.
You guys don’t usually see my living/dining room from this angel. This shot is taken from the kitchen/family room opening. You can see how the front door opens right into the room.
This is the view you usually see and this really gynormous mirror hanging over the sofa. So what does it reflect if you are at the front door?
If you are standing in the open doorway, this is what you see. A totally different view in the mirror.
From the front door you can look at the mirror and see the other side of the living room, down the hall and into the kitchen. Since this is a really small room, it is amazing at how it opens things up and you feel like the space is twice as big as it is.
We also have two mirrors in our master bedroom and each one reflects something different.
The large mirror on the side wall always shows a beautiful reflection of the bed.
If you’re standing at the dresser you get a reflection of the other side of the room.
You can see the window, my jewelry armoire and a small vignette. This is on a small wall next to the opening to the master bath.
It’s interesting to see what a mirror reflects, I think mine were all ok, they shared pretty views from across the room.
What does your mirror reflect?
