I know you will be as inspired by all of these ladies as I always am. So mark your calendar for the next 5 days, you don’t want to miss a single tour.
Grab a coffee, cup of tea or glass of wine and enjoy.
I am starting things off with my home and then there are 5 more tours right after me. Day one is sure to be a winner.
WELCOME TO MY HOME
Since the living room in right inside the front door, let’s start in there. For summer I thought I would go with some really light and cool colors. Living in the desert, we get some super hot temps, so looking at a room that is soft and monochromatic just seems to “feel” cool. I chose a really light yellow and silvery gray and white to add that cool touch that I was looking for.
If you saw my Spring Home Tour, you saw a lot of black and white checks with deep gold/yellow. I like yellow, so I just softened it up and switched out the black and white for the gray.
Mixing up the fabrics, colors and textures of different pillows gives the room more interest.
You don’t always have to use those pairs of pillows together. Split them up and use them somewhere else for a different look. When your pillows aren’t matchy – matchy they look more interesting.
The dining area of the room was already done in pretty yellows for Spring, so I just kept it the same way.
Simple yellow and white bud branches always look fresh.
Let’s head on into the great room. Since these rooms are open to each other, I like to keep the same colors flowing through out both spaces.
My wonderful horse painting has grays and yellows, so the color combination works perfectly.
Here’s where I used the other half of all those pairs of pillows. The solid gray, solid yellow and yellow print are pairs that I also used one of each in the living room. I added the check throw and the chevron gray pillow for a different look and feel to this space. Keeping this area more casual fits our lifestyle best.
Adding another small pillow for even more interest.
The breakfast area centerpiece stayed the same. I swapped out the glasses and added gray napkins to keep it monochromatic and simple.
When I have six for dinner I pull out a couple of the rush topped benched that store under the coffee table.
My kitchen is undergoing a makeover, Be sure to follow along for a huge transformation. New paint, appliances and counter tops. I am going for a whole new look.
We have gone from this – –
to this so far – more to come. Check back in to see new flooring, counters and appliances as the makeover continues.
You can see all the details of our progress so far here.
Next let’s check out the hall bathroom. When I redid it last fall I made a gray and yellow shower curtain that ties in perfectly with all my gray & yellow in the rest of the house. You can see the complete makeover here.
Next is the Master Bedroom. Here is where we take a dramatic change in color. (If you follow my blog you have already seen this, but for those new here I included it.) The gray is a constant, but then I went a little daring. The shocking pink is a happy accident.
I ordered some fabric and they sent the wrong color, I received this shocking pink. Well, it is gorgeous, so I just went with it.
Must have been meant to be since I actually had a shawl the same color.
I pulled out all my pink accessories from my stash and created a vignette for the dresser.
My hubby thinks soft pink is for girls, but he doesn’t mind this color, so it will stay for a while.
I’m not a fashion blog, but I always like to have a “go to” outfit put together for each season, so I thought the bright pink would be perfect. (Besides, I love playing in my closet since the makeover)
Pink and white looks so fresh – I think this will probably be the one I grab for almost any occassion. Perfect for date night or lunch with the girls.
A little bling on the tee shirt is always nice.
For a “dress up” date night, I love all black with tons of pearls and my bright pink shawl. Very chic and dramatic.
I loved having you here, now be sure to check out the other 5 homes on today’s tour.
Next up is
Sarah has a special knack of mixing colors and accessories to achieve a look that is totally her and totally awesome. She’s been working on her outdoor spaces & sharing how their new pool construction is coming along. It is already fabulous.
Summer just seems to scream coastal and beachy decor. That’s not always easy to pull off without looking sketchy. Not true for Christina, she knows how to give her home a taste of coastal with flair.
You will always find something to inspire you in Alicia’s home. Look at this room and those barn doors. Amazing.
Jenna has been turning her new “70’s” home into a showplace. Her bedroom is amazing and full of fabulous DIY projects. Take a peak at that wall – it is fabulous.
Laura’s home is beautiful inside and out and I also love the stories about their donkey too. I love how she’s refreshed her patio this year, and even a mirror on the wall. This is a girl after my own heart.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for these fabulous tours.
