School has started and we are half way through August with September right around the corner. Wow, that means it is time to start thinking Fall. I am really excited to be hosting the 2016 Fall Home Tours that will run Sept. 12 thru 16. There are 30 fabulous homes on the line up that you will love. These ladies always share such wonderful style and inspiration.
Here are a few sneak peaks at several on the tour last year. You can see their whole tour by clicking on the link below the picture.
Twigs, cotton stems, old bottles, books, acorns, cozy throws and cushy pillows, all create this gorgeous and welcoming space. Take a walk outside and see what you can find to add to your decor.
Think outside the box. Take a pretty vignette you already have and change it for the seasons with a few simple items. Pretty seasonal flowers from the grocery store in a vase and pumpkins instead of candles on your favorite candlesticks.
Again using a few branches from the yard, candles, and pumpkins creates this gorgeous mantel. This is in keeping with the neutral color scheme throughout her house, but still says Fall.
I love the idea of bringing nature inside. Find some pretty twigs, pods and branches in the yard, spray paint them gold or silver and work them into a fabulous arrangement on your mantel. Old books, layered mirrors and Pheasants finish off this gorgeous arrangement. Look for similar items at goodwill and give them a makeover with spray paint.
A bunch of sunflowers from your yard or the grocery store, some check fabric and pretty ribbon create this beautiful Fall tablescape. Look around to see if you have a tablerunner or piece of fabric that you can use to add interest to your table. Flowers or branches from your yard would achieve the same look.
Pull out all the stops and go glitzy and glam. Get out your favorite paint and recreate those faux pumpkins from last year. Add some wheat to a blinged up vase. Easy and free with paint you already have.
Not into pumpkins but still want that cozy fall look. Pull out a little leopard or fur and watch how fast it warms up a room. The warm mustard color of the chairs warms up the space too. Think of your furniture as part of your decor and then reinforce that color like the mustard in the leopard pillows does.
More leopard, warm cozy colors, candles, brass and a cowhide rug, these are elements of nature and the outside world around us, put them all together and it creates a space that says, “come in – sit down and stay a while”. I think that is what Fall really means.
You don’t have to abandon your coastal decor to add a little fall. Add some pretty blue velvet pumpkins in with your shells and coral. Get a few faux pumpkins and gourds at the dollar store and paint them blue. Make some with dots and stripes for a little fun, but keep your coastal colors
I love this idea and it is totally free. Take your chalkboard wall or board and create a Fall Bucket List. This will put you and all your guests and family in the fall spirit every time they see it.
Mark your calendars for this years tours, they will be sensational for sure.
