I Think This Will Work – My $15 Frenchy Chair

Happy Mother’s Day everyone.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day with family.  I will be spending time with mine at my daughters this afternoon.  Tons of fun with my children and grands, so the best kind of day for sure.

Do you guys remember My $15 Frenchy Chair?  This was one of my fabulous Goodwill finds a few years ago.  Hubby went to the storage shed and brought back a few more boxes and this chair.  (We are slowly but surely getting that shed emptied).   I have loved how open the living room feels in our new house, so I have been reluctant to add more furniture.  However having an ottoman standing in for additional seating isn’t really what I had in mind.  When this chair came in I gave it a try in place of the ottoman and I Think This Will Work.

This is where I had it in the old house.  Next to the door as you walked in.

I have tried a couple of other chairs here and they just seemed too big and really ate up the space and crowded the table.  This one is a lot smaller in scale.  It needs to be reupholstered in the worst way, but I think the size and style is perfect here.

I’ve pulled the dining chair out and you can still walk around the table with the chair pulled all the way out for eating so that is good.  I hate to have chairs too close to each other and I definitely want my guests to be able to walk around the table.

Much better than an ottoman place-holder don’t you think?

This gives me 6 comfortable seats for guests now, so that works.  (Yes I still need to find a rug since I moved the cowhide to the family room, but I just haven’t found anything I like yet.)

Ok, it stays.  Now to decide on upholstery.  I don’t think I want a color, I have a room full of whites, creams and off whites, so I think I will stick with that.  I just need to find the perfect fabric, so I am sure a trip to the fabric store is in order soon.

I will refinish the wood and upholster the arms and seat, but it needs a new cushion, so I think I will find an upholster to do that for me.  If you know of a good Upholsterer in the Phoenix area, let me know.

So what do you think, keeper?
