Master Bathroom Vanity Makeover Inspiration

When the kitchen was being remodeled we had a few leftovers, so the master bathroom got a couple of updates, but then things stopped there.

After the granite was cut for the kitchen, we had a piece big enough from the slab we bought leftover to do the vanity.  That was a huge improvement.  Pfister Faucet also gave me a fabulous new faucet, so the vanity got an immediate update for free.

This shows our original cultured marble counter that was chipped in a couple of places.

There was also some leftover flooring from the kitchen and family room, so we got to replace the really worn linoleum (you can see that in the above picture) with some great wood look floors.  This is NuCore from Floor & Decor.  It is waterproof, so perfect for the bathroom.

As we were finishing up the backsplash in the kitchen, we had a few pieces of the marble tile leftover, and it turned out to be just enough to do a backsplash around the vanity counter.

At this point, everything has been pretty much leftovers.  The vanity still needs to be addressed – it is really bad and worn builder grade off the shelf oak.  Time to do something about that.  I have gone back and forth a million times about staining or painting it.  I don’t want to go white, but I am not sure what color if I paint and staining it would make it look just like the floor.

Here is what it looks like as of now – – –

The next problem is that mirror.  We looked at trying to take it down, but it is glued to the wall, so I need to figure out a way to frame it.  Once I decide on the color of the vanity then I will decide on the frame.

It has been way too hot to paint outside.  Even the garage is an oven, so getting the vanity painted was definitely put on the back burner.  However, September starts to cool down a bit and I might be able to get some painting done, so I need to get a plan going.

I am thinking I want to go black, not sure, but that keeps coming to mind.  I did find a few beautiful painted vanities on pinterest that I really liked.  Not necessarily the color, but the finish and glaze that gave them some really fabulous character.

This one that is madeover by Thrifty Artsy Girl is amazing.  She has the same builder grade cabinets that I have and look how gorgeous hers are after she painted and then glazed them.  She has a great tutorial too.

Fresh Crush shared a really great tutorial on how she painted her builder grade vanity.  I love the black color.

Fawn Design did a great tutorial also on how she painted hers.  I like the gray, maybe just a little darker shade.

I do have to admit this white vanity makeover is gorgeous.  This is the info I found for it.

I do like the way this one is distressed.  It is from an advertisement by Lowes.

I love this look from Designing Vibes.  I used gel stain on the cabinets in my last home hall bathroom and it was gorgeous.  Not sure if that would be too much like the floors or not.

When I redid the hall vanity in my last house, I used Gel Stain, and it turned out fabulous.  I still think this would look too much like the floors.

Remember, these are the floors.  What do you think?
