Autumn Transitions Home Tour

At the end of summer  I love to make a few changes that slowly transition us into fall.  Nothing drastic, just enough to notice a change and feel in a room.  Thanks so much to Amber @ Follow The Yellow Brick Home for organizing this fun Autumn Transitions Home Tour.  If you are stopping by from Laura’s @ Decor To Adore, welcome.  I am sure you were blown away by her tour.  She always inspires me and I love to be able to say she is a precious personal friend that I admire so much.

Ok, let’s get this tour on the road – —

I love to change up the living/dining areas since that is what you see when you first walk in the door.  A fresh new look for these spaces always lifts my spirits and helps me usher in the new season.

I thought a little before (summer tour) and after (autumn tour) would show how just a few minor changes can give your room a whole new look and feeling.  Autumn always makes me think of casual walks in the woods, nature and anything “down home”.  Straw, rattan and casual decor is calling my name.

BEFORE:  For summer I was really loving cool all white with a little bit more sophisticated feel.

AFTER:  Nothing changed with the pillows, I still love the color combination, but my accessories are a lot more casual and understated.  Weathered wood candlesticks replace the white ceramic ones and a huge wicker basket replaces the white ceramic tray.  The rest of the table top accessories were simplified too.  

BEFORE: Cool white and sophisticated.

AFTER: Casual relaxed and inviting.

It’s amazing how just a few accessory changes can give a room a totally new look and feel.

The dining area got a couple of accessory changes too.

BEFORE: White table runner and gold chargers created a more polished look.

The view from the bottom of the stairs show how soft and inviting the colors are 

BEFORE;  Our Master Bedroom is another place that is fun to change up for the seasons.

AFTER:  We’ll still have warm weather through September, so cool white looks good to me.

You really don’t have to do a complete room makeover to have a change.  Just dress down your accessories for a more casual feel and your room will be totally different.
