Every home needs an inviting entrance.
After auditioning several different things for the “Mini Living Room Makeover”, I have decided that the new mirror is a winner. So now I have two of my main pieces nailed down, the new coffee table and the mirror for the big wall behind the sofa.
I was so reassured by all of you that said you love the mirror too. I had 68 yes it is a keeper and 5 that said not so much. We all have different opinions as to how a room should look. The 5 that said not so much had really good reasons, so each persons opinion is truly valuable.
Now with all that said, since I am going to have a mirror behind the sofa, the entrance wall right across needs to have something other than a mirror. I have been looking everywhere for Art. I tried to find something I like for the sofa wall before I found the mirror and boy, art is hard.
Here is a view showing the whole room. As you can see, there is not a designated entrance. You open the door directly into the room. I have created an entrance table of sorts with this console, a lamp and some accessories. Whatever I hang above it has to coordinate with the rest of the room. Since I change out accessories often and use all different colors in this room, the art has to be something that will go with anything.
Here is a view from the stairs.
This is what I’ve had there for a while. The mirror was originally in the powder room, so it will probably go back in there.
I saw this one and thought I would give it an audition. The size isn’t bad, not so sure if this is a keeper or not.
I do like the colors in the painting and the texture too. I just think I need something more abstract and not so much color since I like to change up the colors I use in the room. (I returned this one, not what I want – it didn’t grow on me. )
Like most things in this room, the entrance wall has changed quite a few times. This is what I had when we first moved in.
Then I swapped art and added my little girl painting.
I currently have the borrowed art from my daughter to see about size. I think the size is one that would work. I also like the abstract design and the thin gold frame around the art is nice too. I think I will be on the lookout for something similar.
I have looked everywhere and on line. Art is really hard, so I guess I just have to keep looking. The perfect thing will pop up when I least expect it.
