I love to set a really pretty and sometimes an elegant and elaborate tablesetting. It is fun to put together and fun to look at too, however, sometimes you just want a Simple Casual Summer Table. Nothing really fancy, just simple, but still pretty. Summer just seems to scream wicker, rattan and plants. I’ve had a pretty blue tablesetting going on for a while. It was much more dressy than the one I have today. I used a few elements from that table and created one much more casual. Sometimes you don’t have to totally reinvent the wheel.
I think this is a fun simple casual summer table. Plenty of wicker, an assortment of plants, bone flatware and white accessories.
This is the tablesetting I’ve had in place for a while. I love it – much more traditional with candles, flowers and stems. More on the casual elegant side.
The soft green and feathery texture of the plants add such a great contrast to the stronger feel of the wicker. You can find some really pretty and inexpensive faux greenery at discount stores like Ross. I try to pick up a unique piece when I see one and hopefully on sale too. These little plants come in handy to use in so many different vignettes.
The mixture of wood, marble and glass planters next to the white ceramics add even more texture to a simple setting. I think the more texture you can add to a vignette the more interesting it is. Here the marble, wood and glass are all so different but really compliment each other.
A Simple Casual Summer Table – perfect for the lazy days of summer.
I think this is a really inviting table with a paired down casual feel that we all love.
Love it! Simple and elegant!
Pretty as always Marty. I love the texture with your place mats and plants. Very very pretty.

Marty, that’s so pretty. I love the fabric of the current table’s napkins. I have a couple of Parsons chairs slipcovers with similar pattern and colors. I’m like you, and don’t use a lot of blue, but I kept a few inexpensive tablescaping elements in my stash for the pleasing look blue always delivers.
I suppose since I am hanging art in our loft right now, I paid special attention to your staggered prints on the stair wall. That’s a very nice look there, given the architecture and the wine cabinet in the corner!
This is perfect! You can leave it set up and enjoy it continually! Love the softness the plants bring in.
Beautiful settings, you must be a hit at dinner parties.
Your table looks lovely~
