As you know, our two recliners broke that hubby and I sit in all the time. So the hunt has been on for some new chairs. A recliner is something you need to sit in to see if it “fits”. There is a lot out there. Some really good and some really, really bad.
There are quite a few out there to choose from, just have to find the right fabric, style, and size that fits us both. You can have one special ordered in the exact fabric you want, but then the price goes waaaayyyyyy up. I think I have decided I want to buy a matching pair. I am not looking for one of those puffy overstuffed recliners. I want something more slimline and more on the contemporary side. Here are a few of the contenders.
I went online to see what all was available and that can be a rabbit hole that will suck you in for hours. These became some of the ones that I like the look of. Then time to hit all the furniture stores to see if any of them were in the store. (I did see a couple of these in person, so I have a couple of updates.)
- I really like this one. Love the open arm style and the fact that it doesn’t look like a recliner. I really like the pretty beige color on this one and the charcoal gray color is pretty too. Nice high back and great headrest. ( Saw it in person and sat in it- wow what a disappointment. This chair leans back so much even without being reclined that you feel like you are laying down. With it in the reclining position, you are practically sleeping. This one is not comfortable at all. It just looks good.)
2. Love this style too. (Saw this one in leather. Looks fabulous, and is really comfortable. Price was a little high, but I really, really liked it.)
3. This comes in a gorgeous beige that is way too light for every day in our family, but this gray is stunning. Link at the bottom shows leather, but this one comes in cloth for about $400. (Saw this one and sat in it, really comfortable and way nicer looking in person than the picture. )
4. This one has great style and I really liked the fabric. Smaller overall chair and lower back. Maybe not a good fit for hubby. (Saw something almost identical. Way small. Even too small for me. )
5. This one is a great chair too. Simple modern club type chair styling. The back on this one is fairly high too. (Sat in this one, no head support even when reclining. You would need a pillow.)
6. Similar to the chair above but I really like the curved arms. This one only comes in a dark charcoal. Still it is pretty fabric. (Same headrest problem.)
7. This one is electric and has an adjustable headrest. Again this one looks nicer in person than the picture and the fabric is beautiful. I love this color and with the wood arms, this lighter beige would be practical. (Hubby loved all the different ways you can adjust it. I am not a huge fan of the electric but he really likes this one.)
8. This is another one I found online – similar to #2 (same measurements) in a faux leather. Price is really reasonable & I like the luggage color too.
I know there is a ton more to see online. These will be chairs we will use every day and for the next few years, so we sort of need to sit in them in person. So far I am most attracted to the gray colors, so at least that is a start.
Out of all of these, do you have a favorite? Which style do you like best?
(After much deliberation and sitting in chairs, I think we have a winner. Which one do you think it will be?)
Chair 8
I’m following with the utmost interest. Can’t wait to see what you pick!! You have marvelous taste, so I know it will look fabulous in your space.
I think you have chosen #7, but #8 is a very close second place.
I love chair 7! I did not see a link for that one. Can you please add a link? Or show me if I am just not seeing it!
I show a similar style in a printed fabric in the links, however, this one is really from Living Spaces. I really liked it too. It is $395 and electric. Really pretty colors too.
All of these are good choices Marty. Looks like you are going more modern. Any one you chose will look great. Happy Sunday.
Hugs,
Kris
I have been looking for one fabulous and comfortable recliner. They look nice online but in person they look like an elephant in the room (especially the gray ones). I will be very interested to see which chairs you choose. My room is decorated in ivory, cream and taupe. So dark chairs just won’t work for me. I have been looking on and off for about a year. Thank you for your honest opinions about the pros and cons. I value your suggestions because you have such lovely and practical taste.
My bet is #2, the Celebrity Power Recliner from AllModern! I can tell you really love it, and it’s a beauty. #8 would be the backup choice if you feel the price difference didn’t sacrifice the quality you hope for the amount of wear you intend.
Buy the electric chair but, check first to see if it has a lift. You may not need it now but, if these chair last as long as the old ones did you will need the lift as you age. Some of the chairs have the ladies chair to match.
I really like the style and color of #8. It seems like it would fit your decor nicely.
I like #5 and #6!!!!! I wonder what you chose! I like to use a pillow for my neck anyway.
Would like to know the name brands of these.
If you click on the small picture links at the bottom of the post it will take you to the site where you can read all about them.
I own chair #1, and you’re exactly right about it leaning back too far when you’re just sitting in it! Anxious to see your pick.
#7 Since you BOTH like that chair. The fact that it’s electric is a plus. I bought my dad a non electric and he has trouble with arthritis in various joints using the chair in the reclining position. Wish I had purchased the electric recliner.
#7 is the winner. I love the curve of the arms. It’s a modern look but still classic.
I was recently shopping for a recliner for a design client and can’t get over how many nice options there are out there now! You’ve found some great ones Marty, can’t wait to see what you chose!
