I always think it is amazing how God brings people together. The Christmas Club is a story of how one ladies Christmas Club money brought so much good and so many people together. It is written by my dearest friend and fellow blogger Barbara Hinske.
Follow her blog to keep up with all the latest news about The Christmas Club Hallmark Movie. You can also follow her on Facebook here. She just came back from Canada where she watched several days of the filming and shares so many wonderful pictures and stories about the stars and filming. How exciting to have a fellow blogger and author that we all know and love have a Hallmark Movie made of her book The Christmas Club.
How I met Barbara is so similar to the story in the book of how everyone met each other and how they all became friends and Blessed each other.
A few years ago I had a get-together for quite a few Phoenix bloggers for a Luncheon and Decor Swap. As I posted this announcement on my blog inviting anyone in the area to come, this one lady (Barb) was new to blogging and introduced herself. I invited her to join us and get to know some fellow bloggers. I had never met her and I didn’t know anything about her blog, so this was really inviting a stranger. However, in blogland no one is really a stranger. To my surprise, she came. We soon all discovered that this lady is a very accomplished and prominent attorney in town, so it was a thrill when she came and not only was such a delight but offered to introduce a couple of young lawyers just out of college to some of the more influential people in town at a luncheon.
She also invited me to lunch at a later date and our friendship began. Now I love to call her one of my dearest friends ever. She is bright, intelligent, warm and so loving and caring. I am sure God arranged our first meeting. I can’t wait to see “her movie”. The Christmas Club movie has been made by Hallmark and will be released November 17th.
The Christmas Club has become a best seller on Amazon in a very short time. Here is a little tease for you from Hallmark – – –
In The Christmas Club, based on the novel by Barbara Hinske, two busy strangers, Olivia Bennett (Mitchell) and Edward Taylor (Mathison), meet when they help an elderly woman find her lost Christmas savings. Thanks to fate and Christmas magic, they also find something they were both missing: true love.
Mitchell’s Olivia is filled with Christmas spirit, whether she’s with her dance students or her spirited 8-year-old daughter, Maeryn, and especially when she and Maeryn are dancing together. As a single mom and dance instructor, Olivia has no time for love and little interest to settle down. Things get even more stressful when Olivia learns the owner of the dance studio is selling it right before the annual Christmas recital.
Mathison’s Edward doesn’t have the fondest memories of Christmas, not since his parents split up when he was a child. After moving to the Big Apple, he’s returned home for a business deal and to spend the holidays with his sister, Beth, and her family. All business all the time, a fateful encounter with Olivia spurs him to regain his childhood love of Christmas.
From Barbara Hinske, best-selling author of the Rosemont series, comes this heartwarming Christmas tale celebrating the generosity of the human spirit and the irresistible pull of love — an instant holiday classic for admirers of It’s a Wonderful Life and The Gift of the Magic.

Thank you Marty for the recommendation of the Christmas Club book! As an avid reader, I will look forward to reading it. For years, I have purchased my daughter a book at Christmas and this one looks perfect. Thanks for the other recommendations too. It was neat to hear the story behind your friendship! God has way of bringing people into our lives when we least expect it. Thanks again for sharing this neat book and about the author.
Oh my gosh Marty how fun that you and Barbara became friends and she has written her book that will not be one of the Hallmark Christmas movies. This is so fabulous. I believe God puts people in our path for a reason. Your story of how your friendship started and how it has grown is a true testament to that. I cannot wait to see this movie and I think I will hop over to Amazon and buy the book. Thanks for sharing this great story of friendship.
Hugs,
Kris
I can’t wait to watch this! Thank you for telling us about this movie, Marty.
How exciting! We unabashedly love Hallmark movies, and the Christmas ones are always special. Thank you for sharing, and what a wonderful experience for Barbara and for you having her as friend!
She shared a few pictures she took when she went to Canada to see part of the filming, so I think it is going to be totally amazing. She a great book, so the movie will be fabulous I am sur.
I will definitely set my DVR so I can see this movie. Marty, you’ve been so consistent in your blogging. I remember meeting you in person at one of our blogging luncheons way back in 2009 or 2010. I’m still posting occasionally on Heart Choices but hope to resume shortly. I follow Barbara but haven’t read her blog lately. I’ll get on it. Thanks for the heads up.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
