Our Guest Room is the smallest bedroom in the house, but I still want to make it pretty and most of all comfortable for our guests. This room has been pulled together with lots of DIY and Thrifty Finds, but I think it works and even looks inviting. Getting The Bedroom Ready For Guests is something I like to do each season. A few seasonal decor pieces, freshly laundered bedding and it becomes a great place for our guests to call home for a few days.
The headboard is a thrifty find from Hotel Liquidators. It was a bargain for $29.50. I stained the frame and re-upholstered the insert and now it is a stunning addition. The comforter at the foot of the bed was a fabulous Goodwill find. The small nightstand is a piece I’ve had for years. A quick makeover with some paint and stain and it’s perfect for this small room. A left over floor lamp adds plenty of light and doesn’t take up any room on the table.
A few fall accessories brighten up the end table. The basket holds an extra small pillow and throw.
A pair of $19.99 sheers from Tuesday Morning frame the window.
The dresser is Henredon and a wonderful thrifted find for $99. The mirror came from my stash as did the other accessories. Both chairs originally came with my Farmhouse Table in the breakfast area. I use them a lot when we have extra guests, I can put them at either table to seat more guests. Sometimes we have as many as 16 to 20, so I need a lot of chairs. Finding places for 6 extra chairs is not easy. I store 3 of these extra chairs in this room, they don’t crowd the space and a guest has plenty of places to sit or lay things down.
This is the view from the hall. I think we are ready for guests to enjoy this small sanctuary.
Getting The Bedroom Ready For Guests really doesn’t take a lot of effort. Just add some seasonal decor and make sure you include all the comforts any guest could want.
Shop The Look – My Guest Bedroom was put together with Thrift Store and Goodwill finds, but I found some really inexpensive alternatives where you could create a similar look on a really small budget.
What a clever idea to put a floor lamp behind the bedside table. I would never have thought of that!
Thanks Beth. I had the floor lamp and the table is pretty small, so it was nice to not have to clutter up the top with a lamp. When I have guests, I can clear off the table and they can add anything they want.
Ah Marty, It looks beautiful. Every detail is taken care of. Your guests may never leave! I love the sheer’s window treatment. And the picture you have in there I remember from your other place. It is beautiful, You have some beautiful art pieces that always catch my eye. Hugs to you my friend.
Thanks so much Karie. I also really like that painting. Remember when they use to have those Starving Artists sales all the time. I found most of my painting there years ago. Such great deals.
Wow Marty what a great price for Henredon. Love the toile you found at Good Will. Toile is a favorite This room is lovely for guests anytime.
Happy start to your week.
Cindy
You are so right Cindy, Henredon is wonderful furniture. I found this piece at a Thrift Store that carried high end and low end stuff. I love this piece it is classic and gorgeous.
You have such a talent. You prove you do not need a huge room to make an impact. Love how you make things work. such a inspiration to me.
Nonie
Thanks so much Nonie, This really is a small room, but big enough to squeeze in a bed and the necessities. By moving the bed closer to the wall you have a really nice size open space to move around in. This room also has a fabulous 6 ft. sliding door closet, so there is room for a luggage rack in there and plenty of room to hang their clothes.
Your guest room is beautiful Marty. Love the toile!
Thanks Pamela, that Toile Comforter was such a great find from my Goodwill. It totally makes the room.
Great guest room….really no reason for guest rooms to be large. Who spends time in it when they come for visit? And I think the chairs are very useful for guests. I had to switch to twin beds in my guest room. I have guests that travel together but aren’t couples so need separate beds. Nice job.
Nice post. I learn one thing more challenging on different blogs everyday. It’ll all the time be stimulating to learn content from different writers and apply just a little one thing from their store. I’d prefer to make use of some with the content on my blog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll provide you with a link in your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
