New Entrance Pendant Light

It feels so good to have the last light replaced in this house.  When we bought our home 2 1/2 yrs. ago, it had some of the original Hollywood Bar lights, but some really strange lighting alternatives.  Now we finally have all the last of the lights switched out and I love it.  Check out my New Entrance Pendant Light.

The entrance hall is really part of the living/dining great room.  The light that hung over the door was your typical 90’s brass and glass pendant light that just about every house had.  Nothing really horrible, just not my style and one glass pane had a crack in the glass.  Can you see it?  You know that kind of tapered octagon shape with glass inserts in bright shiny brass.   We definitely need a new entrance pendant light.

Here’s a better picture before we moved in.  Now that was not nearly as bad as the hugger ceiling fan hung on an angle in the slanted two-story ceiling where the dining room chandelier was supposed to be.  You can see more pictures of our home when we bought it here.

See what I mean.  This was hanging at a weird slant and who puts a ceiling hugger in a two-story ceiling anyway.

This was definitely the first light to get changed out.  I found a fabulous chandelier that I really liked and ordered it immediately, when it came I had our electrician that was working on the kitchen remodel install it for me.  You can see all the options I was considering here.  There were a lot of lights that would work, but this was formal enough but still casual enough to fit my style.  I also needed to consider you would see the top of the chandelier from upstairs, so that was another factor to consider.

All the other lighting was swapped out as we made over each room.  The entrance hall light I bought 2 years ago just got hung.  I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to come and hang one lonely light fixture and especially in a two-story ceiling unless they wanted to charge me an outrageous price.  So I just kept putting it off.  Finally, I found an electrician that was under $100 and he came out the very next day and installed my new fixture.

Kind of hard to see, but it is antique brass and coordinates with the dining room light.

I LOVE IT

Hard to get a picture of both fixtures at the same time.  But you can see how the angles of both compliments each other.

It is so nice to have all the lighting done.   It makes such a difference in the house.  I do have one last thing to be installed and that is a new ceiling fan in the guest bedroom.  I’ve put that on hubby’s honey-do list.

Perfect! That was a great choice. I know what you mean about finding an electrician you can afford. We experienced that too. Looks lovely!

Lighting fixtures can really make a difference in a home. I noticed the entrance light, which is very pretty, has the same design as the mirror over the sofa. Now your are ready for the holidays with friends and family.

I just noticed that your new pendant and chandelier have the same “lines” or shape as your mirror. Was that intentional or a coincidence? I love when design elements are repeated in a room.

Thanks, the chandelier and pendant were intentional, I just happen to love the shape of the mirror, so that was a coincidence. Nice that it all worked out well together. Marty
