Add Pattern & Texture To Your Home

With Spring right around the corner, I am looking for ideas to change things up a bit.  I am certainly not an expert, but I do love patterns and texture in a room.  If you add in a small amount of color to a neutral room, then I am definitely on board.  I really like rooms that are almost neutral.  Then add in some pattern and texture and I really, really like it.  Here are a few ways I like to Add Pattern & Texture To Your Home.

One of the easiest ways for me to add pattern and texture is with throws and pillows, and sometimes my furniture too.

The Loft/Girl Cave is a great example of adding Pattern and Texture.  This room has a great basket trunk that adds tons of texture even before I do any decorating.  Adding a throw with tons of texture and a pillow with tassels amps up the texture quota tons.  The pattern in the two pillows keeps it neutral but adds interest.  Loft Easy Spring Details

This exact same area at Christmas was still really neutral, but by adding a leather and linen pillow, plus a straw pillow we have more texture.  Then the plaid pillow increases the pattern with the plaid throw on the chair arm.  Girl/Cave Office Christmas

This picture shows more pattern and texture in the Family Room.  This is still a neutral color scheme, but the different fabrics (leather, linen and velvet) and patterns in the pillows, a plaid throw, and even the cowhide rug all add to the pattern and texture making sure this room has something interesting to see.  Even the wood blinds add texture.  Easing Into Fall

This is the same room when I changed out the wood blinds to white.  This room still has tons of pattern and texture and is still neutral.

I change up the living room constantly.  It is so easy to swap out pillows and accessories and I have a whole new room.

Checks, plaid, ticking, and plants add the pattern and texture here.  I love that this room has built-in texture with the tile floors and the area rug adds even more texture.

The plaid throw adds a big punch of pattern here.

Bright pink takes this setting up a notch and so does the throw.  The pillow on the chair and matching one on the sofa have sequins so in real life even more texture. 2019 Spring Home Tour

I’m thinking Spring so I have been looking at tons of before’s to help me decide what I want to do for Spring.  When you add pattern and texture to your home, it always makes a difference.

Marty, I’ve been pondering a great room rug, so hard to find. Where did you find the one in your living room? The whitish one with the moroccan design running down the rug – is that grey or tan? I think something like that might work here.
Answer me by my email below, or ask Jim for my email. Appreciate any advice!

It is a really light tan and I loved the asymmetrical design it has. I bought it a few years ago on Rugs USA. Sorry, I didn’t see it on their site right now. There are some great rugs on there though. Marty
