Budget Bathroom Makeovers

I am asked all the time about our bathrooms.  When we bought this house, everything was builder basic – exactly what the builder offered at the lowest price.  Off the shelf cabinets, cultured marble counters, and linoleum floors.  These were all serviceable, just not really very pretty, then when you add in the fact that this home had been a rental for about 12 years, everything was really worn.  With a major kitchen remodel, bathrooms had to have Budget Bathroom Makeovers.

When you are doing a major remodel, be sure to save everything possible to use somewhere else if you have any leftovers.  Our master bathroom is totally leftovers.  We had enough flooring from downstairs to use in all three bathrooms.  This was a blessing to cover up the really bad and torn white linoleum.  (This was really pretty bad)

This was so much better, it looked beautiful and it was clean.  Major first improvement.

When the fabricators layed out the granite design for the kitchen remodel, I didn’t want any seams anywhere, so they managed to get the back L Shape of our kitchen all in one piece.  Then they did the island and we had a piece leftover.  Great news, it was big enough to do the master bathroom counter.  This was the before – –

The new granite countertop made another huge improvement.  All we had to pay for was the rectangular sink and the labor to cut the slab.

At this point, things were on hold for a while since this bathroom was clean and usable for now.  The last project was to stain the cabinets.  The builder-grade off the shelf oak cabinets were not very pretty and had some really bad scratches on them.  I had some leftover Gel Stain, so I finally got my act in gear and stained the cabinets.  Major improvement.  Some new brass hardware and this bathroom was done.

Using leftovers from the downstairs flooring and kitchen remodel, this is basically a free makeover.  We spent a little under $150.   All I did was add in some up to date accessories and call it done.  You can see the full makeover here

The upstairs Hall Bathroom was the last room to get a makeover.

It was really pretty sad but was usable, so it was on the backburner for quite a while.  I added some accessories from our previous house and let it be.  The new floors made it not look soooooooo bad.

This bathroom got a new vanity, toilet, medicine cabinet, mirror, and accessories.   Not a full gut job, but a partial one.  All we kept was the tub.

Such a major difference with the new vanity and toilet.  I added some shelves and accessories to finish the makeover.

You can see all the full details as our guys totally transformed this bathroom in just a little over 3 hours and under $1000 total here.

You don’t have to do a full gut job on a bathroom to create something pretty and more functional.  Shop wisely, use leftovers from other projects and you can have some great Budget Bathroom Makeovers.

I love these budget makeovers! The artwork in the master bath is such a focal point and the drawer pulls elevate the look so much. Leftovers, elbow grease and creativity made for a great makeover:)

Both wonderful makeovers, Marty! My guest bathroom could use a refresh but it’s not in the budget at the moment, sadly.
