I am so excited to be kicking off the 2020 Spring Home Tours. We have 30 of your favorite ladies opening the doors to their homes over the next 5 days. Six beautiful homes to inspire you each day. I can’t wait to show you around, we’ve been busy tweaking a few things. So grab your favorite beverage and come on in, I’m so glad you’re here. 2020 Spring Home Tour – My Home.
Our home is small, but I love the view when you walk in. You can see 1/2 of the downstairs and the loft area upstairs too. If you look through the archway at the bottom of the stairs, you can see the back half of the house that has the family room, kitchen and breakfast room. With such an open floorplan, it feels and lives so much bigger than it is.
As you enter our home you walk into a two-story living/dining area. I’ve placed a console on the two-story wall to act as our entrance table. This house has more aspects of modern architecture than our previous homes – I love all the wonderful roof angles. As we’ve lived here my tastes are changing to a more Updated Traditional or Modern Traditional Style. You can see the recent changes to this area here.
Across the room, you can see the living area. We get a ton of light and I love how pretty yellow looks in here.
I’ve kept things pretty simple.
A grouping of yellow and gray pillows in muted shades compliment each other.
One yellow pillow on the chair in the window area and a bouquet of yellow sprigs and pussy willows on the coffee table.
The dining area is part of this open space.
It’s nestled at the base of the stairs and gets amazing light from another huge 9ft. window.
A simple table with a huge bouquet of tulips.

As you enter the back of the house through the arch doorway, you will see the family room on the right.
We’ve been making a few changes in the family room. We replaced the dark wood blinds with some gorgeous 2 1/2inch white wood blinds. This just makes the room look so much bigger. You can see that change here. Then we bought a larger TV and that started a whole bunch of playing musical furniture. I moved a console table in to use for now, not the style I want, but it is the right size. I think we have a look that will work for now until I find a new console cabinet that I like. I am looking for a cabinet with doors so we don’t have such a leggy look on this wall. Then I want to hang the TV on the wall and do new artwork around the TV. You can see where we are and some of my thoughts here.
On the left, as you enter are the kitchen and breakfast area.
We started the remodel of the kitchen a couple of weeks after moving in. It is still my favorite. While it is not a really large kitchen, I do have a HUGE WALK-IN PANTRY AND A DISH ROOM. Those two spaces are a dream. You can see the kitchen makeover and pantry here, and the dish room here.
I try to keep the counters simple. A brass tray to hold the essentials and my cute drunken chef next to a couple of cutting boards.
The island usually has a simple tray as decor.
On the other side of the island is our breakfast area. This space is perfect for our Farmhouse Table. We can easily seat 8 when we have a larger crowd.
I’ve set the table with a simple white and gray setting.

Hi Marty,
I think what I love best about your home besides your beautiful decor is the amount of light that filters in your rooms. So pretty. Love the tour starting. With us all being shut ins for the next few weeks it will be fun to have the tours to look through.
Stay home and safe.
xoxo
Kris
Thanks so much Kris, being shut in for a while will give us plenty of time to enjoy all the wonderful inspiration all over blogland. Marty
So pretty, Marty, as always! Love the addition of yellow with all your beautiful things. It sure looks fresh & springy and it’s nice to see all the evolutions of your home decor.
Thanks so much Rhoda, it’s been fun to watch you new home evolve also. Marty
Your home looks so bright and cheerful and also very cozy. Love all your colors against your neurals. Love your dog in the entry way. My husband made one years ago in ceramics class we were taking – mine is white. That sweet camel on your island speaks to my heart. Its so unexpected and unique. Love it. Whereever did you find that?
Your home always shows beautifully and I love all the light that you get from your beautiful windows. Since we downsized in 2013 into a condo, there is only one window in each room. I miss having two large windows in every room. Light plays an important role in how you feel each day and especially for those that have severe winters.
Thanks you for hosting this delightful Spring Tour!
Thanks so much Connie, I agree, I really enjoy the light and this house has tons of windows so we get fabulous light in here. The camel is a butter dish I found at Home Goods. They had several different animals, so I chose the camel for me and got a couple others as gifts. I think they are so fun. Thanks for the nice compliments. Marty
