Do you have a piece of furniture that moves all over the house? I do, in fact, I have several. Some pieces just lend themselves to several uses. I have a dining room buffet that has been in more different spaces in my various homes than it has been in the dining room. It has been in two different spaces in my current home. Now it is finally in the dining room.
As you can see, our dining area is also part of the living room. This space is just one long rectangle with the two areas flowing together.
The buffet was used in the entrance for a while
and then in the family room for a while,
now it is finally back where it should be. This is a super sentimental piece that was a wedding gift 35 years ago, so I always find a place for it no matter which home. I placed it in front of the window and left the wine rack in the corner. A simple tray of wine and a plant were all the decor that this area needed.
The dining room buffet fills that space without looking crowded.
The dining table has a simple basket tray vignette. I am loving less is more at the moment.
The dining room area at the end of the stairs works really well for us. There is enough room to add extra leaves if we need to when we have a larger group. I am going to enjoy having the buffet here, it will be convenient to hold serving pieces when we entertain.
Do you have some pieces that just roam all over your house too?

Hi Marty,
It is fun when we can use the same piece of furniture in different rooms. Looks great wherever it is in your pretty house.Have a great day.
Kris
How pretty. I have missed your posts and inspiration. I can write once more, so will visit often.
Just love your down to earth posts and how you work and solve problems that are like ours — in other words — real life! I just looked at this post and smiled! I was thinking about you coming down the stairs and just smiling when you look out over the room. How calming, bright and yes sentimental! Love the post — need more smiles these days Marty! Penny
Thanks so much Penny. Yes I do smile when I come downstairs, I really feel blessed that we found this house and are so much closer to family. This house has turned into a blessing for sure and I am having fun decorating it. Marty
A couple of wine glasses right there and you are totally ready for Happy Hour. And no worries about wine in front of a window? Glad to know that as sometimes a buffet like you have is truly the best piece for a window.
That looks perfect there with the wine rack nearby!
What a fun post! Almost like a Where’s Waldo for grown ups!
I love the new spot for your buffet! I am happy to feature you this week at TFT:
