Backyard Progress

If you have been following me for a while then you know that the backyard pool is my favorite place to be.  Since we live in the desert, we are lucky that we can use it about 6 months out of the year.  When we bought the house, remodeling the kitchen and adding a pool were my main wishes.  We were lucky to find contractors to do both right away.  The kitchen makeover started a couple weeks after we moved in and the pool started two months after that.  I have loved both of these spaces and feel so blessed to be able to enjoy them.  Time to share the Backyard Progress.

Talk about a blank slate, this was the backyard when we bought the house.  At least there wasn’t anything we had to clear out to make room for the pool.

It was an exciting day when the dig took place.  You can see all the details of the build on this post

The mess that happens with any project.

Finally all done and now to start to plant.   Looking back at this everything looks so small.  Creating an oasis around the pool with tropical plants and flowers was my inspiration.  I like to mix it up and add different kinds of plants for interest.

Now it’s grown so much in thee years.  We have to keep pruning just to keep things in check.

I like all the different plants and flowers.  Mixing it up is my favorite thing.

This is where you’ll find me all summer.  I am happy with the backyard progress so far, now to finish the other side of the yard so it looks as nice.

Do you have a favorite place to spend the summer?

    Draga Marty,
Toate imbunatatirile sunt incantatoare. Este un rai real. Petrecerea timpului in acest spatiu frumos este viata de calitate, plina de sanatate.

You did such a great job on that backyard and adding the pool. It is so gorgeous out there now. I bet in the summer months that pool is wonderful to have. Happy New Week.

Yes from gravel to a pretty pool and some pretty plants. Now to get the other side of the pool looking this fantastic, it is my hubby’s garden area and he’s not too neat. haha. Marty

Oh, Marty!!! I can’t believe the before pic – shocking – man has it really been 3 years already? Time sure flies.

Love that pool and would spend all early morning and late evening in it with you. I don’t do sun but if not too hot I’d be sitting under your covered porch sipping something cold and chatting with you!

Well done, ma’am. It is really the best improvement you could’ve ever made. And omg the flora! It is perfect!!!!

Marty – every time I see the before and and after I want to congratulate you for your vision (and courage). It looks wonderful! Think I will just drop by and have an iced tea with you some morning! Keep wanting to ask you — what happened to the tree that was in the middle of the yard? Did you replant it somewhere else or was it “ditch” time? Thanks for the inspiration Marty!

Thanks so much and I would love to have you drop by and let’s have tea. That poor tree had to go. There wasn’t anything to save, it had been cut back by someone and developed some sort of disease in the raw branches. Marty

Marty!! I just love what you’ve done in your back garden. Your pool is gorgeous, of course, but WOW what a difference all the plants make. You’ve created a wonderful oasis!

Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
