It always amazes me how one change can change the whole room. To my surprise A New Bedskirt Changed Everything. I have had the same bed linens for years. I really like them. The bedspread and shams are a beautiful white quilted fabric. The headboard is one I found at Hotel Liquidators and redid years back. I am still in love with it too. You can see that makeover here. I made a bedskirt at the time with fabric that coordinated with the fabric in the headboard. Now I want a change.
Time to hit JoAnn fabrics and find something new. I chose really pretty white cotton with a slight sheen and some good weight and body. A few hours later I had a new bedskirt.
This is what the room looked like before.
Since I am using black and white pillows, the dark bed skirt probably looks better, but what if I want to change things up a bit. I’ve usually kept the decor within the beige family so it went with the bedskirt and headboard. Here are a few pictures of how the bedroom looks from time to time.
I like all of these looks, but now I can use any color I want and that is going to be so much fun. The new bedskirt totally changes what colors I need to stick to. It doesn’t have to be black or brown.
Bedskirts are so easy to make, so if you don’t like yours, change it up. Here are my step by step instructions on how to make a Simple Easy Bedskirt .
Stay tuned, I am joining a great group of ladies next week for an Inviting Summer Bedroom Tour. July 20 thru 24th. Be sure to mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss a single tour.
I am busy putting all kinds of color combinations together. Can’t wait to show you what I come up with.
Actually I like the white skirt better. It seems to make the whole room lighter and brighter. You did a really good job on the skirt. When I take out my sewing machine my whole family leaves the room. Not my finest hour. Great job.
Thanks, I like the white also it just really makes the room look different and you know how it is. I have to get used to the changes. Marty
Looks great, Marty!!!! I like how the white lightens up the room.
Thanks Ron, I like it too.
Love the white skirt.
With the white in your spread this looks so elegant and beautiful. Really nice Marty.
Hugs,
Kris
Dear Marty. I really like the white too – and as you said, it opens up all sorts of color possibilities to go with it. Maybe the brown for the winter months (really love it with the fur throw) and the white for the summer months? Both are lovely.
Thanks, it will be nice to switch them out like you say. Marty
The new bedskirt looks wonderful, it really lightens up the room!
Hi Marty,
I know that amazes me too. Your bedroom really does look so light and bright now.
Gotta love lil changes…………
Hope this finds you doing well hon…………
Blessings,
Nellie
Thanks Nellie, we are all doing well, hope all of our loved ones are also. Marty
Amazing what a difference this makes! I like the white skirt, especially for summertime. Thank you for linking to your bedskirt tutorial. I love sewing projects that are just straight seams!
Love your new, lighter bedskirt, Marty!! It is nice to change our bed looks up from time to time. I have been looking at new linens but still love my Shabby Chic matelasse covers and duvet covers. I know for a lot of people, they aren’t into florals so I’ve been looking at simple styles for a change. 🙂
Enjoy putting together new combinations for your bed (maybe a trip for new pillows?!!), and I loved reading your post about the water tank pool you have,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Thanks, I agree, changing up bed linens really can change a room. I need to do it more often. Thanks again, Marty
Hi Marty! Just popping back in to thank you for joining the Grace at Home party and to tell you I’m featuring you this week! 🙂
Thanks so much for the feature Richella, you are such a dear. Marty
