A Thanksgiving Prayer

A THANKSGIVING DAY PRAYER

Lord, so often times, as any other day
When we sit down to our meal and pray

We hurry along and make fast the blessing
Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing

We’re slaves to the olfactory overload
We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold

But Lord, I’d like to take a few minutes more
To really give thanks to what I’m thankful for

For my family, my health, a nice soft bed
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head

I’m thankful right now to be surrounded by those
Whose lives touch me more than they’ll ever possibly know

Thankful Lord, that You’ve blessed me beyond measure
Thankful that in my heart lives life’s greatest treasure

That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place
And I’m ever so grateful for Your unending grace

So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You’ve provided
And bless each and every person today.

Amen!

I wish you and all your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.

This is our first Holiday without Jim.  We all miss him so much, however today I am counting my blessing.   We have so many beautiful memories of a remarkable husband, father, and papa.  He is with us today in our hearts.   I am also counting my blessings for all of you.  Your uplifting emails and prayers are what has carried me through these last couple of months.  Thank You with all my heart.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thank you for this prayer and all that it expresses. It can feel very lonely on holidays when loved ones are not there, but you remind us that we have many many blessings, many good memories, and many other relationships that are very dear.

What a beautiful grace. We never know “when the last time will be the last time.” We are not guaranteed anything.
Perhaps it was God’s plan all along for you to move closer to family. You are always in our prayers all across the country.
    May you have peace.

I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday but you were in my thoughts, Marty. So glad you had a nice Thanksgiving Day with family … the first holiday spent without your dear Jim. Wishing you continued peace and comfort!

Such a lovely post Marty…..You have a great attitude even in your time of grieving. I am thankful that I have come to know you through blogging and that you have been a great blessing to me. You are in my prayers every time I pray for others at our church
who have lost loved ones this year, and that’s almost daily. So happy to hear you had your family surrounding you this year for
Thanksgiving, and yes, your Jim is with you in spirit and the great memories you have of him.
    Bless you sweet lady,
    Nellie
