Wrapping Baked Goods As Gifts

I have been one busy girl baking tons of loaves of bread for gifts for friends.  I love to be able to have something I know everyone will like, so baked goods are always a winner.  Sometimes I make a ton of cookies to share but it seems like everyone always asks for my Banana Bead and my Pumpkin Bread.  Presentation is always important with any gift so I have a few Tips For Wrapping Baked Goods As Gifts.

This year I had requests for 10 loaves of each (pumpkin & banana) from family and friends.  Four of my grandsons always want a loaf of Banana Bread just for themselves – no sharing.  So I always make sure they each get their own loaf.  Then I have another group that always wants my Pumpkin Bread, so I bake a ton of that too.  20 loaves in all, baked and in the freezer.

You can find my recipe for Pumpkin Bread here and my Banana Bread here.

I do make cookies for our family as well as the breads, so I have a couple of tips and ideas for how to wrap them as gifts.

When I have a lot of baking to do I start early.  Most everything freezes well, so I make most of it a couple of weeks in advance and just freeze it. I have a second refrigerator in the garage, so I can use the freezer section of that refrigerator too.  Here I have 10 loaves of bread that I put in freezer bags and store in the garage.  Then I have 10 more in the refrigerator in the house.

When I am ready to give as a gift I just take them out and get them ready to wrap.  I leave them frozen so the recipient can thaw them and serve whenever they want.

I bought some large cellophane gift bags that make the perfect thing to use to wrap them in.  I take them out of the freezer bag and slip them into the cellophane bags and tie the ends with the twist ties.  Then I add a pretty tag that says to and from and what kind of bread it is.  A pretty bow finishes off the package.

For cookies, I found some really fun Christmas tins for about $1.50 each that make a great presentation.  I line them with parchment paper, arrange a variety of cookies and then put the pretty lid on and they are ready to go.

Something home-baked always seems like a great gift for friends, neighbors, and even family.  Put on a pretty bow and tag or find a pretty tin and you are good to go.

When you say you leave the breads frozen, do you wait until the day of gifting to take them out?

Yes, I don’t take them out until the night before or day I am going to gift them. That way they are as fresh as possible.

Marty, as always I have enjoyed reading your ideas on how to make family/friends feel special through special homemade touches. But, I was unable to access the Banana or Pumpkin Bread recipes. I kept getting a swirl from your original post to the (supposed) recipe link. Is it just me or is it not working? Thanks again for sharing all your excellent ideas.
