I can’t wait for Super Bowl. I love football and this is the big finale, so of course, there has to be a party and tons of good things to eat. We seem to make it a whole day of snacking, not a meal, just tons of Tapas. This is a similar menu we seem to have every year.
I love having all kinds of snacks that go in the oven and then a few that I make from scratch. I call this a Semi-Homemade party.
(You know like Sandra Lee’s cooking show)

New this year I am adding
Prime Rib Sliders (recipe below)
For the Homemade part – PRIME RIB SLIDERS are so easy and they are definitely a crowd-pleaser. (Click on name to go to recipe)
Another really easy recipe and definitely one my family loves for any occasion. Won Tons.
You can make these ahead of time, just freeze and cook what you need. (Some think this is hard, so I am giving you the step by step instructions so you will see how easy these really are.)
1 lb. ground round generously seasoned with garlic salt.
1 can diced green chilies
Jack or/and mozzarella cheese
Won Ton Wraps
Brown meat well then add the can of green chilies, cook together for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add 2 large handfuls of the shredded cheese.
Turn heat off and stir to melt and combine with the meat mixture.
Beat one egg in a bowl and set aside to use when wrapping the won tons.
Place a small spoonful in the center of the won ton skin –
Roll up from one corn about 3/4 of the way – –
Dip fingers in egg wash and rub on the two ends to moisten, then stick them together in sort of a bow fashion.
Place them on a cookie sheet and put in the freezer.
When they re frozen, package them up in freezer bags in a single layer – about 25 to the bag – and return to the freezer. This recipe makes about 75.
Place frozen a few at a time in deep hot oil and fry until golden brown. These are small, so don’t over cook. Serve with salsa or ketchup as a dip.
Here’s my secret to semi-homemade. All of these wonderful goodies can be cooked up really easy in the oven.
That’s it, while all your store-bought Tapas and Sliders are cooking in the oven, fry up your won tons and then place everything on pretty platters. Fill a large bowl with fried rice, arrange your dips and chips, and you are done. Let everyone help themselves to a large bucket filled with sodas, beer, and wine. Now just relax and enjoy the game.
Looks great !
Yum I am coming to your house Marty! I have never made wontons but you make this look pretty easy. Might have to try this.
Have a great day today. xoxo
Last summer we grew so many butternut squash and I’m always looking for a side to go with them…..but not heavy with meat. Also, we have hens so I have plenty of eggs. The fried rice is the PERFECT side with the squash and I’m making it on Sunday. The won tons are great too. Love the idea of freezing them. We live in Southern CA. so in the winter I enjoy cooking but come summer I’m always looking to pull something fast and easy out of the freezer. They will be perfect to accompany veggies. You live in a hot summer area too so I look forward to any posts for summer cooking.
