Since Spring is right around the corner and we are getting ready for all of our Spring Home Tours, I have a few ideas on how to pull off a pretty spring look without a lot of hassle.
I don’t think you have to re-invent the wheel each time you make a change in your decor. Sometimes it is fun to totally start from scratch and switch everything up, but most of the time just a few simple tweaks and you have a whole new look. Here’s how I switched things up a couple of years ago.
My living room gets tons of light and one of my favorite colors is gold or yellow, so this room really shines when they are put together. This just says Spring to me.
Pillows and throws can change any space in a flash. Adding some new, swapping out a few others and your room suddenly looks fresh and new. By adding yellow and white with the blue pillow that I was already using and adding some yellow branches to a floral arrangement, this room looks totally different.
Adding yellow to the room gave it a huge color boost. If my room has been rather neutral before, then adding some color gives the room a whole new life.
Texture totally changes a room too. The hat on the chair draws your eye to the basket that the plant is in. Use your baskets and even your summer hat to add a bit of texture to a room. Shop the house for anything you might have.
The coffee table is a great place to add some texture and character too. You could replace the white bowl that I am using with a beautiful basket tray filled with a candle, books, a pretty box – all kinds of interesting items. For Spring I like to lighten things up a bit so I left the bowl empty.
It really is easy to go from this –
To this without reinventing the wheel.
I love both looks but it is nice to switch a few things around for a change. How about you, do you like to switch it up a bit?
Mark your calendars, we will be having our 2021 Spring Home Tours in a couple of weeks. 30+ fabulous bloggers will open the doors to their homes and share their Spring Home Decor.
Pretty Marty. I love your throw. I’m not changing everything but I wanted to add new crafts this spring.

I love the cheerful, early spring look! I’m inspired to start now. Question: what is your wall color? Thanks!
I’ll be switching out pillows, candles, etc in a few weeks to pastel shades of yellow and lilac
I love your use of yellow, Marty. And ohhhhh all that natural light looks spectacular.
We have a foot of snow and it is currently snowing now – so it’s way too soon for spring decor for me here in winter wonderland….
but I change every season up every time – only thing is each year I am purging. I used to be a little crazy with seasonal decor – not I do
it more mindful and with a simpler touch.
Stay well, friend. Hugs.
My favorite color is yellow, so I really love the pop it gives the room.
I just added new pillows, throw, and flower arrangements to our family room.
Happy Spring!
Marty – you and I are on the same wavelength this spring. Yellow is my color of choice for this year’s spring decor. I found a bunch of textured yellow/gold pillows that I’m really crushing on right now. You’ll see them next week. 😉
