I saw this the other day and it really struck a cord with me. I think this is something we could all think about. I definitely need to pay attention more to how I am spending my “DASH”.
Jim spent his dash well. He never met a stranger and always wound up being friends with everyone he met. Helping and caring every single day in some way was how he spent his life. He shared his knowledge freely with anyone that asked and always went above and beyond to give them a helping hand. There were so many ways he endeared himself to others. Giving a courtesy call or courtesy consultation to most anyone. He would even check on your garden and your yard while you were on vacation to make sure everything was ok. He gave lectures to countless Gardening clubs and always was a Speaker at every Home Show. All the time he donated himself and his knowledge, made him happy. His most endearing quality is how everyone says he always made them feel loved, liked, and important. That was definitely shown when I received several hundred cards telling me how much they liked and admired him after he passed. (I’ve kept and re-read every one of these cards, such a tribute to such a loving and kind man. I miss him so much.)
I need to pay attention to how I am spending my “DASH”. How about you?
Thank you for the reminder of our dash! Love the poem and thanks for sharing. I was raised by the Golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
It was very thoughtful of you to share this with us. Thank you for this wonderful reminder.
I used this in class…students loved writing how they play to use their dashes…this is your best blog.
Marty, my father in law was very fond of this poem, and it was on the back of his funeral program! I think that we all are reevaluating how we want to live our dash especially after COVID 19. I’m so sorry that you and Jim were struck by the virus, and so very sad it took his life. We all need to think about what is important in our lives and discard what is distracting , diminishing and needless. Thank you for the reminder and for always bringing the importance of small beauties into our world!
Lovely sentiment Marty! You are in my thoughts! XO- MaryJo
Marty, I think of you often with loosing your precious love. May the Lord hold you so very close to himself. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I love every post that you share with us about your Jim. I feel like everyone of these posts is guided by him.
