If you have been following me for a while, then you know I am pretty predictable. I have my own taste in design and my own taste in color. Jim always loved every color in the rainbow since he was a gardener. He always tried to get me to use all the colors out there in my decor. Not all at once, but when I created a new design. My favorite colors have always been on the fall or autumn color side with gold, camel, orange, and green. Earth colors for sure. I am making an effort at stepping out of my comfort zone & exploring new things in all areas of my life.
I need to broaden my horizons. Creating a new normal with new possibilities is my goal. My daughter-in-law gave me a gorgeous shawl that has such pretty colors in it. Pinks, purples, gray, and white. Now I don’t usually wear or use any of these colors. (I do have one pink jacket come to think of it.) However, I loved this combination so much in this pretty shawl.
I love the $9.99 pillows they always have at World Market. You can’t beat the quality and color selection. I wanted some new pillows for a change in the living room. As I was looking through all of their fabulous colors, I couldn’t help but keep coming back to these pretty purple pillows. I bought two and combined them with my shawl. Perfect. Now I had a new color scheme to play with and enjoy. I love it.
The sun coming in through the window hit the pillow just right so you could see how pretty this color is. I found some of the same pretty pink and purple flowers at the Dollar Store. They are exactly the color of the pillow.
I am so glad I bought these pillows, what a fun new color scheme for the living room. (This fabulous rug is on sale. 7 x 9 for $139.)
The way the light is hitting the shawl, it looks almost black, but it really is a deep purple.
This room gets tons of light, but even when the sun isn’t shining directly on the pillows, they still look amazing. Deep, deep purple.
I hosted Mother’s Day so I was even tempted to pick pink bags for my daughter-in-loves gifts.
Ok, I think I need to be more adventurous more often. This was fun and now I might use these colors more often.
Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone & Exploring New Things is definitely something I need to do more often. How about you, are you the adventurous type?
I love it.
Hi Marty,
Love your new color scheme, it looks lovely………….and that is the great things about a neutral color scheme, so easy to introduce a new color. I love doing that too. Glad you are trying new things to bring more fun to your life…….amazing how just a small things
bring so much joy to us at times. Hope you are doing well and that you had a good Mother’s day as well.
Blessings,
Nellie
Now that was unexpected and I love it! The purple is beautiful. Way to go Marty.
Gorgeous! Love that plaid shawl!
I really, really like your colors!
That color is beautiful and not too much. Repeating the colors in the shawl, pillows and flowers is the key to it looking so very nice.
I love these touches of color in your lovely room. Very pretty!
That deep purple is gorgeous and perfect in your neutral room. I love it.
I think it is great to add small amounts of color in with neutrals too. Love the glamorous pillows and purple flowers. Have a great week. xoxo.
Change can be good. Although it can be difficult and uncomfortable at times, it can be good:)
I’m glad you found a change that brings you joy!!!
Absolutely fabulous!!! You inspire me!
I’ve been wanting to add that color to my home for quite a while now. Seeing it here makes me KNOW I want that in my home. Gorgeous!
I love purple with all those colors you listed that you love. So, of course, this works!
Marty, very pretty color on your off-white sofa!
Remind me where you got that rug? Neutral color with some bang!
Cherie
The colors make your room come alive. Wow!
OMG, those jewel-t0ned pillows are gorgeous!
Love these colors! The shawl looks like a throw.
Love the purple accents. They are beautiful. You’ve given me so many great decorating ideas.
Wow! That is really pretty.
Love the new colors, way to go Marty….!!!
Absolutely gorgeous Marty! You’ve opened up a whole new color approach for decorating for us! That’s the most beautiful purple I’ve ever seen. Thanks for always sharing the beauty you create with us.
Blessings, Edie Marie
Wow! Gorgeous!
One of the joys of your neutral furniture is that you can use just about any color combo as accents ~
Good for you!
Wow! I love this colour scheme in your living room. It’s so bright and so beautiful and the sun lights everything up!
Hi Marty,
I’m proud of you for stepping out and we get to enjoy it with you! Love what you did. 🙂
Jim must be smiling. This is beautiful, Marty!
Very pretty, adds nice richness. I think color is coming back for design. Everyone is getting bored with all the off white, black and grey. A new reasonably priced rug in those tones would be smashing. I like to change out the rugs seasonally. Because we have a little dog I keep them moderately priced so no stress.
Just beautiful Marty as always. Love the deep purple. Happy Thursday. xoxo Kris
Although I am pretty much a neutral person, I do love those purple pillows. A refreshing difference from what we usually see on blogs these days. I for one am pretty tired of farmhouse, all that grey, black and white.
Beautiful accent colors
I love that with your basic pieces, sofa, chairs lamps and rugs, you can change it up any season or any time. What fun!!! It has me thinking…..
Amazing how little changes can give new life/vibe to a room.
All looks good!!!
Your new colors are as classy as your usual options
I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone and the result is so pretty. I am trying to be more adventurous as I get older. xo Laura
Wonderful! Love the pop of color, just the right amount!
