Summer and time spent around the pool call for special treats and there is one that I really love. A good Old Fashioned Summer Treat. Who doesn’t love a milkshake?
My Hamilton Beach malt mixer is an antique that came out of my family’s soda fountain many, many years ago. My parents ran this soda fountain for a few years and my mom kept one of the mixers when they sold. I have had it for years. My kids and now my grands think it is so fun to have an old-fashioned milkshake and I agree with them.
Every time I show a picture of my pantry, someone will ask me what that green thing is in the corner. It’s too tall to fit under the counter in my kitchen, so I don’t really have a place to leave it out all the time. But I love this wonderful old malt mixer.
With the weather warming up, it is time to get it out of the pantry and put it to work. A rich chocolate milkshake is just what I need.
Time to relax and enjoy some me-time. I’m ready to turn on the TV and sit in my favorite chair and enjoy my old fashioned summer treat.

Oh, wow, Marty! What a very special keepsake from your family’s ice cream shop! That’s so lovely!
Brings back memories, wish I still had my soda machine from Grandma, gave it away years ago.

Well, that takes me back to working at the drive in. I love a good milk shake.
Aw, love that is a family piece of history and now I want a malt, LOL. I make homemade ice cream but I’ve never tired making a malt. The color is my favorite and I’m so glad to hear you still use it 🙂
What fun!
Oh what a treasure and that it came from your family too! I had been looking at some vintage ones and amazed at the prices. Enjoy!
Boy did this bring back memories! My grandma always made milkshakes for me when I visited her. We’d sit in her 50s style kitchen at the table and drink our shakes together. So cool you kept that mixer from your family’s soda fountain.
Thia looks great, I love milkshakes 🙂
I absolutely adore this malt mixer, and now you have me craving a good ol’ fashion chocolate shake. 🙂
