2022 Christmas – The Back Of The House

It seems like we all like the back of the house.  This is where we spend most of our time.  You have the Family Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Room, and of course the Fridge and the Pantry.  What’s not to like?  Time to decorate and enjoy 2022 Christmas – The Back Of The House.

This year I went really light on all my Christmas decorating.  There’s just me and I won’t be hosting all the family for Christmas, so I decided to do everything on the minimal side.  With that being said, I still wanted to enjoy the season and make the house feel like Christmas.

Let’s start this off with the Family Room.  It doesn’t take a lot to make a room feel festive, so I pulled out a few things and had some fun.  I usually have a 7′ flocked tree in here, but since the corn plant is growing so big, I decided to do minimal in my trees.

These three little flocked trees worked out great by the door.

This wonderful throw with Christmas Trees was a special Christmas gift last year.  So fun to use it this year.

The coffee table is where I added more fun, a Santa, and a few trees.  The Blessed pillow on the sofa and this room was done.

Time to move on to the Kitchen.

I love my kitchen and just because I’m not hosting this year, it is still a really busy place with all the baking I am doing.  Breads, cookies, and pies for different celebrations and gifts.  So this place is buzzing.

I usually have something going on in this corner.  A Santa, tree and a fun rolling pin.  When I found it I had to have it.  These past two years have been a challenge and I am slowly learning to Roll With The Punches.

I love to have something on the island for each season too.  Santa and my candy tree sit in a basket filled with fruit.

Next to the kitchen is our Breakfast Area.  This is where the whole family loves to gather for informal meals and spend some time together.

We can seat 8, but I’ve only set the table for 6 for now.  My setting and centerpiece are simple – Santa, a Tree and a few candles.

At the last minute I added one more space.  My youngest son is going to be here for a night so I decided to add a bit of Christmas to the Guest Bedroom.  Since most of the Christmas bins have been put away, I had to go really minimal like the rest of the house.

This is a really small room, but a queen size bed does make it comfy for a couple and still leaves room to walk around.

I had a couple of Christmas pillows in my stash that I could use, so I added one to the bed.

I found a couple of trees, and a pretty angel and added those to the night stand.

At the foot of the bed there is room for a small dresser and another chair.  Another Christmas pillow, a small tree and one of Santa’s Reindeer and I am calling this done.  Not much, but it does share the spirit of the season.

Marti, I can’t think of a better mantra for widowhood than “roll with the punches” because the punches surely do come…I might have to have that engraved on something! As usual, your home looks cozy and relaxing. Merry Christmas and I hope that 2023 brings you much peace and not as many punches!!
