Creating A TV Gallery Wall

Creating A TV Gallery Wall.  TVs can cause all kinds of decorating problems and questions.  Some of us have them over our fireplace and become part of the main focal point.  Some have them over a console table and then have the question of how to decorate a big wall around them.

I’ve seen all kinds of fabulous galleries created to address this question.  I think your style and imagination can run rampant here.

This one is simple and doesn’t create a busy look.

An eclectic collection of art can work in the right space.

Rustic accessories ties this area together.

These are all fabulous and perfect for the rooms they are in.  My family room is small and was one of those rooms that took ages to get right.  This space has gone through more transitions than any room I have ever had.  I finally have it the way I like it and the way that feels like us and works for us.

At about room makeover #1,000,000 this is what I had going on.  I was using a buffet console I borrowed from the dining room to hold the tv and had a small feather gallery around the TV.  I had also just replaced a chair with some plants to give the room some breathing space.

Too much furniture lined up around the walls made it feel cluttered.  This room really didn’t grab your attention in any way.

It’s funny how adding a tree and plant in baskets with a lantern suddenly added tons of character to the whole room.

A huge difference in the feel and look of the whole room.  The gallery wall seemed to work better.

When I finally found a console that I loved for this space the room took on a totally different feel again.  The console was in natural wood tones to go with the baskets.  Hanging the TV on the wall took up enough wall space that a gallery didn’t seem necessary.

Going simple with just accessories on the console gave the room even more breathing space and left all the attention on the Horse painting and sconces over the sofa.  No need for more attention to the TV.  Sometimes a gallery wall can be just what you need and sometimes a blank wall is perfect.

I love the new console and the clean, uncluttered look. Nicely done!

      Love makeover #100,000,000!

The hard thing with gallery walls that have straight rows is that they’re hard to keep perfectly straight. Art frames like to move and shift around…
