Being a grandma is such fun. I love everything about it. When they are babies, I love all the cuddles and as they grow, I love to see how they develop into such amazing little people. I am blessed to have a few of my grandchildren living nearby so I get to see them often. The best times are when I get to babysit. Last Wednesday I had – A Day With My 6-Year-Old Grandson Ryan.
Being your typical boy, of course, the first thing he wanted to do was build a Fort. He asked me to go work in my office and he would surprise me with a Fort for us. He knows I have a bunch of throw blankets in the TV console cabinet and asked if he could use them. I said sure, why not.
Off to work he went arranging chairs and bar stools and covering everything up. I think he created a pretty good Fort.
He said it had to be big enough for both of us to camp in. He took pictures inside, to show that we had room for both of us.
Now it was time for me to come down and see our Fort. Time to start camping. I had to crawl in under this little opening. Once inside we had a great visit and talked about the world. Climbing out was just as hard as going in.
He brought along two of his Nerf Guns, so we set up target sheets on the front door and he got busy with his target practice.
After a while of shooting his targets, it was time to leave. He had a pass to go to a fun place called SKY ZONE which has a Ninja Warrior-type gym. Such a fun place for tons of kids to have a great chance to try out their athletic abilities. He had such fun and even conquered climbing the high wall.
After an hour of trying out all the different elements, he was tired.
Time to hit McDonalds for some lunch, then off to Target for a treat. I had the best day and loved every minute we get to spend together. Back to the house to have some ice cream and watch a movie. Days like this remind me how great this world is and how Blessed I am.
Perfect day Marty!
Such a creative little boy, just like his grandma apparently. Love seeing that they are still simple things that children enjoy😊
I couldn’t love this any more if I tried!! So admire you for climbing into that fort!!
Sounds like a great day. Mine are sadly all grownup and I miss those past days of fun.
Congratulations to Ryan for having such a wonderful Grandmother!!! 😀
What a fun treat!
My youngest is now 14 and I miss the make believe. Always dens/forts of course just like yours, camps in the garden, inside picnics when the weather is not good enough, sleeping over in the garden room ‘cos he’s not big enough to do it outside, playing hospitals with the toys when he’d use a whole roll of toilet paper for bandages!!! Such special days and it’s the thing they remember about Grandma’s house, enjoy every minute!
