With the Holidays right around the corner. Time to get some of my favorite recipes together and bake up a few treats for my family. I thought I would share some of my Old Fashioned Cookie Recipes Your Family Will Love.
Is there anyone who doesn’t love Sugar Cookies? Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies with Vintage Cookies Cutters is a family tradition at our house. My mom gave me this rolling pin and these vintage cookie cutters years ago when my children were born. These are the ones I still use to this day.
These vintage cookie cutters don’t leave as clean an edge as they use to, but these are the shapes my children grew up with and now the shapes that my grandchildren love. How special to get to choose if you want a Santa, Reindeer, Camel, Pony, Angel, or Christmas Tree. There are also some hearts, and other shapes too, but the Christmas ones are always the favorite.
I grew up in a very loving family with very simple and limited means, but my mom always made cookies at Christmas.
No fancy frosting, just sprinkled with sugar, so that is the way I have always made them. Once they are cool, shake off the excess sugar and store in zip lock bags.
As you can see from my recipe card, these have been made a million times, but they are still the best tasting soft sugar cookies you will find.

These are similar to the kind of cookies I grew up eating – mainly because my mom kept things simple in the baking department (she didn’t like us eating too many sweets!) – but these are exactly the kind of sugar cookies I find myself craving every Christmas season!
