The Empty Chair Thanksgiving Prayer

The Empty Chair Thanksgiving Prayer.  If you have a loved one in Heaven, set a chair for them at the table this year and thank the Lord for the love and time you had with that person.

Like so many of you, we will have a couple of empty chairs at our table this year.  Having loved ones in Heaven is hard at the holidays.  I try to count my Blessings for the 36 years that Jim and I had.  He was such an amazing husband and took such good care of his family.  He always made sure I knew he loved me.  Losing a Child is a different kind of loss than any other.  There is a hole in your heart that never seems to heal.  Chuck has been in heaven a year and a half and is so missed by his brother and sister too.  As we gather with family and friends this year, we will say a special thanks and prayer for these special loved one and I hope you do too.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Lovely prayer and sentiment, Marty. We lost my dad and brother over 20 years ago, but we always miss them so much during the holidays. You and your family are in my prayers. Debra

Beautiful, thank you. Remembering a wonderful man who died today, Nov 23 in 1989 — ON Thanksgiving Day that year.

This is beautiful, Marty. Thank you for sharing it. My mother passed 21 years ago and her birthday fell on today, Thanksgiving Day this year. We miss her very much. Thank you again for the comforting poem.

What a wonderful prayer. I lost my son as he took his own life. His service was Friday and our family is devastated. Mental Health is real and it takes few prisoners. Jackson was only 29. He lost the battle and we lost a son, brother, cousin and simply beautiful mind. Be vigilant with your love. Call, hug, kiss and repeat…the one’s you say you love as action and quality time is the elixir. Although my heart is shattered I am grateful that he crossed my path and the sun comes up most mornings. He made an indelible imprint. May God bless you all.🙏🏾…please be thankful for what is in front of you as the past is far behind us.
