Shredded BBQ Chicken Sliders for the 4th. This is such an easy dish that everyone loves and so perfect for the 4th of July Picnic or party around the Pool. Everything just get dumped in the crockpot so it’s definitely easy.
I am going to make a lot, so I’m using these two really huge chicken breasts. (These are almost the size of turkey breasts.) Just clean and place in the bottom of your crockpot.
Next I dice up about 3/4th of an onion. This depends on how much you are making. If using smaller breasts cut the onion back to 1/3 to 1/2. I’m also dicing up a couple of these small peppers from the garden. These are mild, so I’m using seeds and all.
Dump the onion and pepper on top of your chicken and spread around.
You can make homemade BBQ sauce or you can use store bought. I had 2 different kinds, so I’m using 1/2 a bottle of each. Here’s my recipe for Homemade BBQ sauce.
Now pour the BBQ sauce all over the top of the chicken, onions and peppers. Put the lid on – cook on high for 3 to 5 hours.
Check as it’s cooking to see if it’s cooked enough to shred. If so, remove the chicken, shred with two forks and then put back into the crockpot to simmer or keep warm. Then spoon generous helpings onto some great rolls and enjoy.
This is a favorite Coleslaw recipe I found online from Dinner then Dessert. I think you will love it too. Makes a great side dish for the sliders. I usually serve some cantaloupe and water melon too.
