Dress Your Bed To Sleep Cool on Hot Summer Nights

Summer is definitely here.  There’s been heatwaves all over the U.S. and especially here in the desert.  We’re pretty steady in the teens now and have already hit 117 once with 114 several times.  Yes the AC is running, but I don’t like to crank it down too far at night, so I need to keep my bedding light and airly for summer.  Here is how you can Dress Your Bed To Sleep Cool on Hot Summer Nights.

I’ve been wanting to make a change in my bedskirt for a while, but I just hadn’t found anything I liked.  What I have been using for the last few years is a simple white bedskirt that I made.  It’s nothing to write home about, so I’ve been wanting a change.

I finally found one that I like on Etsy, so I ordered it.  I love the simple quilt pattern.

This is so pretty and so well made.  It fits my king bed perfectly.  You can see it on Etsy here.

While I have the mattress off the bed, I turned the mattress around so I would be sleeping on the other side and gave it a good vacuum.   I thought it was time for a new mattress cover too.  I found a great one that I like at Target.

I love that it is supposed to be breathable and heat wicking.

I’ve already taken off all the heavy blankets and narrowed down my bedding to one blanket and a light quilt, but that still isn’t enough.  I need everything to be cool.  I found some great all cotton sheets at Ross.  They have a pretty spring pattern, so I thought that would be fun for summer.   Time for the heavier stripe ones I’ve been using to be put away until fall.

Blankets come next.  I’ve had a wonderful white cotton blanket all winter, however it is pretty thick and heavy.  I found this cotton waffle weave light weight blanket while I was at Target, so I picked it up too.

I think we are ready for a cool nights sleep.  I can still add the light weight white quilt that I was using to the foot of the bed if I think I want a little more cover.

Or maybe just a throw blanket for a quick nap or to cover my feet.

This really is cooler.  No more throwing off the cover in the middle of the night.  Just cool comfortable sleep.
