Old English – European Countryside Decor

I love the old-world trend I am seeing all over the place.  I thought I would try to bring some of the Old English – European Countryside Decor into my decor.  Starting with the kitchen is usually my favorite place to play.  Not way overdone, but just a hint is what I am going for.

My brass tray is one I have used for years, it’s perfect to hold my oils and tools.  I see these being used in almost every kitchen.  Cutting boards are everywhere too.  I have a couple beside my mixer, but my favorite and most fun one is my pig cutting board.  I put him behind the range.  Most old-world kitchens use an ornate painting or a cutting board.  A couple of William Morris towels on the range handle look appropriate too.

The island is kept really simple with just a tin tray filled with a small plant, my salt & pepper grinders and a ceramic apple.

The breakfast table is where I had a little more fun playing with centerpieces similar to several I saw.

Some wheat, my fun rolling pin and a cloche wth fresh donuts.  Most all of the vignettes  I see have food and flowers or plants in them.  The French and English just seem to add anything they love and it looks amazing.

I am also changing a few furniture pieces, some different art and a lot of accessories in the living/dining area too.  Adding a touch of the old world is fun and I am enjoying the change.

I love this! The colors remind me of the decor in your former home and kitchen. Perfect with all your wall paintings, too.
