Easy Transition to Cottage Core. I enjoy making changes to my home, which has a lot of architectural details such as 2-story ceilings and straight lines. Its design makes it suitable for Transitional styles. Although I appreciate various decor styles, I decided to change a few things in my home to give it a new look and feel. By replacing some furniture and updating accessories, I’ve achieved an Old World or Cottage Core ambiance that I love.
I started making a few changes at the entry. I use this chest to create the feel of an entry. It’s the first place you see when you walk in the door.
This is the look you’ve seen for the past few years.
By switching out the painting and a few different accessories, I have a cozier feel.
I don’t usually show this entire wall. However, this view shows how the room flows directly into the family room/kitchen area.
The China Cabinet is across from the dining area and holds my heirloom treasures from my Mother and Mother-in-law.
Ok, back to the living/dining side of the room.
I switched out the rug and moved the leather chair back in to give the room a different look. I love how this changes the feel of the room.
I added a grouping of fall-colored pillows with my Fox pillow on the sofa. He demands attention.
Some pumpkins in a basket on the bottom of the coffee table and a basket of flowers and candle on the top adds to the casual feel of the room.
Adding more traditional items to my side tables was another way to keep a more casual and warm feeling in the room.
I didn’t set the dining table for dinner.
Instead, I just added a few items that I love for a fun centerpiece.
This is a nice change that I am loving for now.
Marty, your living room is lovely. The contrast between the dark leather chair and the light sofa and rug is perfect. Love the new rug and the fox pillow! Cozy can be elegant too.
I love your style – everything looks beautiful and so comfortable!
Looks great together. Very sophisticated, like all of your decorating. There is such a thing as too much orange for fall.
Marty, all these years, that big dog has been by the door. Is there a story to go with it ?

Thanks, yes the dog is fun. Just a find that I thought would be fun to add to the corner. Thanks so much for such a nice compliment. Marty
