Once the Christmas Decor is down, there is always a huge mess to clean up. I had glitter and pine needles everywhere. When that mess is cleaned up I just want one room put back together so I can relax for a bit. I really am not in the mood to redesign a whole room when I am that tired. This year my family room put back together was “So Easy It’s Almost Cheating.”
I didn’t put up a tree in here this year, so taking down a few vignettes and switching out a couple of things was all that I had to do. Well, clean really well, but that goes unsaid. Here we are with our after Christmas clean up.
Here was how the room looked for Christmas. Just a couple of Christmas vignettes – so really understated.
My Santa display on the coffee table and the Blessed pillow were the two places that said “Christmas”.
That Blessed pillow has such a pretty plaid on the back, so all I did was turn it around and replace one other pillow. A different vignette on the coffee table and it is not Christmas anymore.
The TV console had a couple of trees and a reindeer, so that was really easy to change out.
I put back the same vignette I had before Christmas.
I love it when you don’t have to think too hard or reinvent the wheel. This room looks ready for the New Year and it really was so easy it was almost like cheating. This will tide me over until I get the rest of the house cleaned and put back together. Then I’ll probably be ready for a little room makeover of some kind.
Now if the rest of the house would put itself back together that easy. Do you like to start from scratch or do you just do easy semi-makeovers after Christmas?
You are ahead of me as I have not yet put away the Christmas vignettes. I’ve taken them down but have not yet packed them away. No tree this year. Everything will go back the way it was. Nothing new. I don’t have the inspiration or the energy. I hope when Spring gets here my mood will be energized!
Marty, I like what you initially created because many times less is more! Simple can be sophisticated too! ha Right now my holiday decorations are still up because I love the look of my faux tree with the red ribbon wrapped around it as a garland. If all of this is still up end of month, won’t be surprised or perhaps slowly things start coming down in another week or so……… =) I’m not working any more, so all the more to enjoy and not rush putting it away as I used to. And when this is all tucked away, I could see me rearranging the stuff that has returned for a new look! Afterall, I’m always getting new ideas from my blogger friends!! =)
I put all my Christmas away and am trying to move things around to get a new fresh look for the winter months. Happy Wednesday.
Hugs,
Kris
Looks so nice, both ways! Love the yellow plaid throw and yellow pillows; so fresh looking.
Everything you do always looks so lovely!!!
Some years simple is best and you had a hard year! I hope you have a good 2021! Hugs- Diana
Starting to take mine all down today. I wait until the Ephihany and bake a cake to celebrate. Your family room is so beautiful!
Looks really good, Marty.
Have a happy and healthy new year, sweet lady.
Big hugs.
I love that you just turned the pillow around!!!! Right now I am all about easy and I don’t see that changing so I totally get you:)
Happy Winter!!!
Your room looks great! I take everything holiday down and do “winter” decor…leave that up until end of February – tuck a few hearts in the mix for Valentine’s. Then in March I do a big “re-do” and try new things! Happy New Year!
Such a gorgeous room Marty – I love your soft yellow! Thanks for sharing, and Happy Thursday!
Marty, I went years without a Christmas tree, instead using some beautiful branches and a few light weight ornaments.
Taking down the Christmas décor was so much easier this way.
I’ve always loved your tv room, and how you’ve made changes through the years. Those grays and soft yellow are calling my name 🙂
Take care
RR
I seriously need to do what you do! It seems much easier for sure and I love how spacious and peaceful it looks. I always get so intimidated to add red when red is my least favorite color. Maybe next year I’ll be brave and do what I want. Love those candle sconces by the way. The entire room is gorgeous!
Beautiful!! Just taking my stuff down!
